I use it to connect either my laptop or my desktop to my monitor, my monitor has a hub with KB/mouse/webcam. This allows my laptop to charge from the monitor, display out from laptop to monitor and peripherals are available on the laptop. My desktop connected to the second input doesn't have USB-C display out or need powering by USBC so it just simply passes the peripherals connected to the monitor. It works pretty well, there have been a couple of times where it stopped switching or doing anything and I thought it was dead but after unplugging for a few minutes it came back to life. The remote works well for switching and doesn't appear to need line of sight, there's also a physical button on the unit to switch inputs. It's hard to put a time on how quickly it switches because the USB devices need to enumerate but it's pretty fast and the devices are available within a couple of seconds.
