Such a simple and effective idea
We had to replace a solar panel for one of our camera and I came across this design. Not only does it work just as good for a fraction of the price but it also helps to keep the rain off the lens. I was impressed how simple it was to install and how well it keeps the camera charged up. Not too large and it seems to be holding up just fine.

Struggles to deliver 5v in cloudy conditions
The 5W at 5V roof style solar pannel I received struggles to deliver 3v in cloudy conditions, where other 5w solar panels I've reviewed were able to do so. If I'm going to keep cameras charged up, it's important they deliver 5v at modest current even in cloudy days. The split pitch of the pannels I believe are contributing to the issue because either one, or the other, or neither will be directly facing the sun due to both of them being angled away from each other. The pannel also has a very short cable terminating in a micro USB male plug. The listing shows a slightly longer cable. Neither are long enough unless I mount the solar manel directly above the camera, or other device needing a charge.Birdfeeder solar cameras would be one application. Hidden birdhouse security rechargeable camera is another application as long as the camera is able to manage fluctuating voltages. If this was providing power to a small power manager to charge up a modest Lithium battery running lights or a camera, then I believe this will safely provide enough current and voltage throughout the day regardless of the sky's condition. None of my cameras would do well with this particular solar panel. I have 6 cameras currently being charged up daily on solar panels, and planned on installing more for keeping an eye on deer that feel my property is a salad buffet.I may switch gears and use this particular panel to charge up some low lumens solar path lights instead. On the fence recommending the solar pannel.

This solar panel works perfectly, for low-wattage USB-powered devices.
I like that this solar panel device has an open USB port, for flexible types of device compatibility and possibilities, in terms of plugging in, even though it's listed for use as a camera solar power unit. I sometimes consider long-term sustainability of an installation; "forever" types of set up situations, so to speak, that could make it, perhaps, out in the wild, for example. However, I'm trying to figure out where the device can be hung, in my room, or, posted, just outside my window, since I get some fairly bright enough light for the device to be useful, in being another charger, and one that's off the grid, so to speak. I tested it out, already. Cool gear! Thank you so much for this device. I really appreciate it.

A Reliable Solar Panel that Keeps My Camera Charged and Protected
I recently purchased the StartVision 5W Solar Panel for my outdoor security camera, and I'm really happy with its performance. The unique roof-like design not only keeps my camera charged but also provides some protection from the elements. The panel is made of high-quality monocrystalline silicon, which ensures efficient conversion of solar energy into power for my camera.Setting up the solar panel was a breeze. The included 360-degree adjustable bracket allowed me to find the perfect angle to capture the most sunlight. I appreciated the included micro USB cable, which made connecting the panel to my camera a simple plug-and-play process.Since installing the StartVision solar panel, I haven't had to worry about my camera running out of battery. Even on cloudy days, the panel manages to keep my camera charged and operational. The peace of mind that comes with knowing my camera is always ready to record is invaluable.Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The StartVision 5W Solar Panel is a reliable and well-designed product that has made maintaining my outdoor security camera much more convenient. If you're looking for a solar panel to keep your compatible camera charged and protected, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Converted a Security Camera to Solar
If you have a solar camera that has a self-contained battery, you can make it solar with this nice little panel set. You get a double panel 5-volt solar panel set, a dongle to connect with USB S instead of the USB micro this comes with, stencils for mounting, and two separate mounting option hardware sets. I tried this with both a GEENI and an AUBOR Security camera and each worked perfectly. Even through two days of storms and clouds I never lost power to my cameras. Just out of curiosity, I linked this up to a CIAUO power back and the solar array charged it up to 100%. This means with some ingenuity you could also link this to a security camera without an internal battery, and still use it with the addition of a power bank.OVERALL - This allows me to "cut the cord" with an outdoor security camera and avoid having someone cut the power cord line to trn off my camera. KEEPER!

Only works on cameras
Correctly powered my security camera and because it's black instead of white it blends in better than my original. It's not intended for it but was disappointed that it isn't able to charge other things like a phone or flashlight etc.. phone didn't even give me any weird messages about it, didn't even recognize it as being there....
