We were tired of flimsy phones like the last ones we bought. The receivers fit oddly & slipped off table when you talked as the phones were incredibly light, easily knocked off the bedside table or slid around it. Seems to be the way new phones are. By contrast this is a solid phone with a comfortable receiver that fits in a cradle & four rubber corners to keep phone real stable. My husband & I love this design & have one in our living room, bedroom & office. It may sound odd to some, but I am old enough to remember this style with a rotary dial & for comfort & durability it is tops, but I have a nostalgic feeling about it too. I would say some things can't be improved on but this phone also has controls for volume & ringer which older phones did not, so it ends up even better. Style, function, durability & service all deserve 5 star rating. We had a phone that was replaced under warranty, the ringer switch on the bottom was pushed into housing too hard, I guess. They stand behind their products & It was a very quick return. We do not like cordless phones. We bought at least 3 sets of those & they never sounded clear. I am thinking we will never have to buy another phone.

I bought this telephone years ago and we still use it when the electric goes off and need a corded phone, still going strong!

At first site it looks great. Pick it up and the weight, quality and heft of the new phone doesn’t come close to the ones of yesterday year. Suppose that the way things are now. Plugged it into the phone jack. Dial tone volume has three settings the lowest setting is great. No problems hearing the other person on the line. When i called the home number from my cell phone to test the ringer…. Nothing, no ring. There is a switch on the bottom which allowed the ringer to be turned on / off. Tried bother ways and still no ring. Followed the basic trouble shooting guide and still nothing. I also plugged in the old phone we are replacing and it did ring So! The new phone Must be a dud. VERY disappointed that this phone doesn’t work properly. It’s being returned and not replaced with the same.

This was a gift for 93-year old who wanted "old-fashioned" phone. It arrived with the ringer not working properly, but it took less than one minute to fix. The ringer must have come loose during shipping... simple repair - just remove screws from base plate, re-place the ringer in its proper slot, and then re-close base. Ringer now works with full tone on both high and low volume. Phone looks and sounds great, neutral color, nice weight. Comes with all cords (generous length) included.

I really like this phone with one exception you cannot turn ringer fully off. I have other phones that are wireless in house that ring but I bought this phone in case of power outage (land line phones continue to work) so ringer basically not needed. I would give five stars other than that. Hand set has good audio and also volume level controller for hearing. Overall I would recommend.

Mom's kind of lost it mentally and has had a very hard time using your regular type phone with the buttons on the handset. So after watching her trying to use the phone and seeing that when she picked it up her fingers where already hitting buttons on the handset I decided to search for a phone that had the buttons away from the handset and found this phone. Mom's in the stages of dementia and it's like trying to teach a child how to do what would seem like simple things, but a child is actually easier to teach because Mom won't remember anything 30 seconds after you try and teach her. But I am so happy to say that this phone rang a bell in her head and she said it reminds her of the phone she had when she was a Social Worker, made me so happy and now she calls me at 2am, 4am or when ever she wants as she has no idea what time it is, so I'm grateful, I guess. Only thing I noticed being 58 myself and deaf well nearly, I can't hear the stupid thing ring and when I put my ear up to it, it sounds sick but there are other phones in Mom's house that ring like a normal phone but something is definitely wrong with this thing and I'm not sure if it's defective or not, but if I'd have bought it for me, I'd be sending it back. What's with this where they say Double-gong Ringer, what?? Double dumb, it's no gong it a buzz sounding something, think I should probably say something, but it's working for Mom but I don't want to have a piece of junk either that's defective or something, will probably inquire if I only can find the time, she keeps me very busy and I don't really need to be messing with a screwed up phone at the moment. However that's not why I bought it and it works for what I had to do and that's that, just as long as Mom can now hangup a phone correctly and dial numbers correctly I'm happy, but frankly the phone is JUNK, alright said but if your in the stages of dementia you'll never know the difference, so if you've lost your mind and still need a phone this one is for you. I can't hear crude on this phone and like I said the ring sounds really sick.

Well, I'm a bit between pillar and post with this review. The phone arrived broken, the both solenoids that provide the ring tone were not attached inside of the phone body, but I'm a pretty handy guy and the repair was simple enough. After seating the ringers and reassembling the phone, it is very nice. I'm old enough were it looks like a real phone and , although the construction is lighter... it feels right to this geezer.

great phone that's really easy to set up. the sound is a standard ring that's loud enough to hear throughout the house.

Look exactly the same as the original version but a bit lighter version. I own a 1984 original and it is the same in terms of looks. If you want an exact replica you have to order the made in usa version wich finish with the model # 20M and not MD. But for my part, I am pleased and satisfied with this less expensive version. And no problem with my VOIP.

Le téléphone est très bien, le problème est la sonnerie. Le son est grave et sourd. Visuellement ventage, sonnerie non satisfaisante.

Do not buy this phone. Only had problems with it. We can not hear at the other end as if its on mute.
