Does the job
This replaced a bigger, clunkier phone. I wanted something simple - no answering machine, no extra handsets, just a phone with caller ID. This is a phone with caller ID. It works. Calls are clear, display is fine (could be better, but for the price, I'm not going to complain). I was concerned about the placement of the buttons on the back. I thought my hand or shoulder might press them accidentally when using the phone. I haven't had any trouble with that. Good phone for a good price.

Same problem as all the others.
I have a phone jack that is intended for a wall phone. It's in the kitchen, and it's in a ploace where I don't need to have wires and docking stations and stuff like that on the counter so I keep getting these wall phones with caller ID that do not require AC electricity, and they ALL have the same problem. They take batteries and the caller ID is for all practical purposes un-readable, but that doesn't really matter after about two weeks, becuase the batteries are dead by then. Not interested in replacing batteries every two or three weeks so I don't use the caller ID. Probably stupid to still have a land line anyway, but I've had the same phone number for 35 years and it's cheaper than having the number assigned to a cell phone.

Increasingly annoying!!!
When I first got this phone, I thought it was a 2- or 3-star phone, but the longer I have it, the more I hate it. The button you depress to end a call gets stuck, so when I pick up the phone, I have to use a fingernail to unstick it. Annoying but maybe not a big deal… UNLESS it was an emergency. But the thing that has made me decide to try to return it is when I go to pick up the receiver, because the base is so light and the hand cord so tightly wound, it ALWAYS pulls the phone off the night table. Then I have to pick it up and the line cord and hand cord get tangled. An annoying mess! Why go through this?! I recently had occasion to use an older AT&T slimline phone. The handset was lighter (OK, probably because it didn't have as many features) BUT the base was sufficiently weighted and the hand cord more flexible so it didn't fall off that night table. Who would have ever thought such a simple thing would feel like such a pleasure?! Perhaps if you had this phone on a desk surface and didn't mind that the base pulls toward you, or if you had it mounted as a wall phone, it would be satisfactory, but otherwise….

Not sufficient contrast to see Caller ID
Even maximizing the contrast to see the display, it is almost impossible to see it. My goal was to have a wall phone in the kitchen for caller ID. Unfortunately, I can't see the incoming number unless I get right on top of it and squat down to be eye to eye to it. There is no back lighting to make the numbers stand out. So, I end up walking to one of my wireless phones to see who's calling.

Good for my kitchen
The 1970s phone worked just fine but did not have caller ID. Sales people know to call during dinner time, so I need to see how important or annoying the call is before I answer it and interrupt my evening multitasking. One drawback is that the directions did not match up with the phone itself, so I never got to the internal menu that allegedly would allow me to increase the contrast of the caller ID display. It is still an improvement though and I cannot displace it like a portable.

Terrific Features Great Style and Low Profile
Great Trimline with caller ID. Good to take it outside with me on yard work days because the sound is so clear and the added feature to raise or lower the volume is really helpful and I can ignore all those telemarketer calls too! Arrived on time and packaged well. Am considering another Trimline for the basement now.

It's functional!
I bought this telephone for using it in the garage, primarily for its Caller ID feature, and to that end it serves its purpose. As with many of the other reviews, I agree that the display is hard to discern under certain lighting conditions but it can be read easier if a flashlight is used. I no longer have to rush into the house to see who is calling as I have had to do in the past. All telephones that I've researched with this type of display and price range have this display characteristic, so it is what it is. For a garage telephone at less than $15.00, this can't be beat!

So so phone
The two things I find most annoying about this phone are the way it angles down when on the wall so unless you are about four foot max height you have to stoop down to see the caller ID dispkay when receiving a call. Probably a good feature when on a desktop but not when you choose the hang on the wall option. The other thing is it sounds like certain callers are at the beach with the roaring water sound. For an RCA I guess I expected better engineering quality. My att phone that this replaced was actually a better hearing quality then this one.
