Lasts longer than hermit crabs
It's an ugly green phone that works quite well and makes it worthwhile to have a solid landline phone in case of an emergency or when the cordless phones die out. The color is reminiscent of '70s kitchen appliances. It's not as heavy as the old "princess" phones, but I wouldn't really expect that. The bottom line is it still works in my house in 2016, so if you're concerned about its durability, no worries there. It has been alive and kicking for well over two years which is more than I can say for the hermit crabs we bought the kids years ago - those things never saw an anniversary of any kind! At least with this phone, you should be able to call your kids after they move out of your home and say "remember the time you neglected your hermit crabs and they died?" Good times.

It Really is Green!
Ignore the picture of the pink phone! This is a nice, sturdy phone. However, it does have a couple of drawbacks:There is no reset button on the handset. You have to hang up the receiver and pick it back up to make a second call -- an unnecessary hassle if you want to make several calls, and you and the handset have moved a bit away from the base. You have to be careful to lift the receiver straight up when you answer it == it's very sensitive, and if you make even the slightest horizontal pull you will disconnect the call.Despite the claim it can work as a wall phone, it really won't -- the receiver will only stay put in the desk phone mode.Despite the drawbacks -- and the omission of a reset button is a real problem -- this phone is significantly better than most corded phones available today.

Glad they still sell these
I live in Louisiana where a hurricane can come and knock out the power and cell towers and sometimes the only thing or one of the first things to get back up and working is a good old regular phone landlines. Cell phones need cell towers to operate and power to stay charged. My wireless handheld landlines need electricity to work. So I always keep one of these corded landlines plugged into a phone jack in one of our bedrooms for emergency use.As far as the phone goes it will ring when it is supposed to and I can hear fine on it so it does what a phone is supposed to do. There is a low and loud volume button on the side of the phone for ring volume and if you look real hard there is a small ringer on and ringer off button on the bottom of the phone. That one took me a long while to find.

Its cute but....
I really needed something with a speaker capability but I purchased this knowing it didn't have that feature. What I didn't know is the flash button on the handset (the disconnect button) cannot be held down to keep the phone disconnected manually. Meaning, if I'm away from the base and need to keep the phone disconnected longer than a second or two before making a new call I can't. I cannot keep the phone disconnected by keeping the button depressed because it flashes back on immediately and I hear that annoying "off the hook" beeping. A small inconvenience for the way I use a phone. I am still looking for a good old fashioned trimline handset. Something with weight and quality. The quality of the sound is average and the comfort is so, so.

Seafoam green not as pictured
Phone is actually light seafoam green not lime, not avocado. It's an ok color but doesnt match the photo or my decor. The ring is annoying-very high-pitched, use the adjustment on the base and it sounds better turned down. It does have a light on handset so you can see it ring. It does not require batteries or power so it should work when power is out. It comes with a short cord for wall-mount and long cord for tabletop use. Handset cord is curly and about 3 feet long. Touchpad keys are large and easy to read and they are back-lit. Has flash and re-dial on handset but not hang up so you have to get up to hang up the phone. Turn handset holder pin around on base to hold handset onto base when wallmounted. Adjuster on handset for dialtone/listening volume-good for hard of hearing. All in all not too bad for the price but they need to put a new photo up with real color.

Cool avocado phone!
I'm still searching for the Trimline and Princess Avocado Green phones of my youth - they heavy ones produced by Western Electric, and the other Big Bell companies. Other than it's greenness, this phone is NOTHING like those phones. It's cheap, and it feels it. The cord couldn't possibly have been made less expensively. It doesn't have a ringing bell - instead it's that annoying electronic "bleat". I bought this phone because it was inexpensive and reminded me of the phone I really want, but let's not kid ourselves. None of these cheap Chinese knock-offs are anything like the items they are replicating. If you need a basic phone and want a green one, this will do, but just so.

Gets the job done. But very cheap/obnoxious
I use my cell phone as my primary contact, but I recently got a land line for emergency/backup at my apartment.Pros:It does come with a short phone line, as well as long.Features light up buttons and call indicator light, for when: you have the ringer setting to off.Cons:Extremely poor quality.Poor sound quality (nothing terrible, just a bit fuzzy and low.Shrill, annoying ring.Little to no sound options.

Steer Clear
I bought this early on before I truly needed it (in July, needed for January). When I opened it up and tried to use it, the pieces in the cord fell apart and now I'm past the return date for Amazon. What a waste of $15.
