This mushroom compost has given my outdoor potted plants the boost that they needed after a week of heavy rains hit my area, compacted the soil, and washed the recent fertilizers right out of them. This compost is easy to mix into newly potted plants, as well as to top-dress established plants for a nutrient boost. This compost holds water well, which is ideal for my container tomato plants in this hot and sunny environment.I've also used this compost to top-dress my vines planted in the ground along a fenceline where the recent rains have washed out the soil, and they're thriving! This compost is a wonderful amendment to my heavy clay soil to help break it up and allow for better drainage and water retention.This compost does have a bit of an odor, but it's not intolerable and it fades quickly outdoors. First time using a compost made from mushrooms and I was interested to see how it would work. The 12-qt. bag was enough for most of my planting pots (10-15) and easy enough to use. It's a harsh time of the year in Texas for plants due to the heat so not expecting huge growth as we see in spring or fall. However, the flowers are doing better than anticipated and most are still alive. Some, such as the sweet williams and vincas, are blooming quite well.

I didn't actually use this for mushrooms. I looked at the ingredients and figured it would work well for many types of plants, so I used it to start some petunias from seed and it was a good choice. My petunias are thriving. It smells fine, works well and was easy to mix. Good product.

This is a smaller bag of mushroom compost, which paradoxically I like given that I find myself always wrangling big and heavy bags of sand, steer manure, etc. I plan to try it in my cold frame starting in several weeks. Another option may be to use it in a radish and kale bed where I am working on improving the excess clay content.UPDATE: Upon opening this bag, the product was moist and a very dark brown-black. It was identical to a garden center bag of compost opened at the same time in terms of texture and color, although slightly damper, possibly from outdoor storage? This is a great addition to your soil for your plants. It has a little smell to it, but the plants really thrive using this.

I ordered this All Natural Mushroom Compost (12 Quarts), Low Odor Rich Supplement for Indoor/Outdoor Pots to add to my raised bed vegetable garden.This compost mixes easily into my existing soil. It seems to hold water very well. It does not have an objectionable odor. It is way too soon to know if it will actually make a difference in how well my plants grow, but I'll come back and edit this review once I have a reading on that.

Wonderful compost! A little stinky but great quality. Get a lot for your money. Plants like it thus far.

I ordered this compost to give my potted plants a boost, especially my tomatoes and other veg. While it is too soon to tell if there’s a difference in their growing season to make the price worth it, I do like that this product is sustainable and is all-natural. I’ve read that mushroom compost also helps retain moisture, which will hopefully help during our summer dry spells, and that it can also provide additional nutrients including calcium — will see if that helps my tomatoes in particular. As per the description, there’s no distinguishable odor once it is mixed in with other soil. Overall, looking forward to updating this review in a few months.
