Such a beautiful machine, and great coffee too!
I already own an Essenza which I bought back in 2009 from Amazon and is still working fine, but I ordered a CitiZ in Titanium because I wanted another Nespresso for a different location, and am going to move the Essenza there. I also wanted to take advantage of Nespresso's $50 credit promotion which is ending on June 19th. The credit is with the Nespresso Club for buying the capsules. I had been using my old, but still functioning Krups Gusto small pump espresso machine at that location, but just got tired of the mess of grinding beans, and cleaning out the grounds and steam nozzle all the time. Having a Nespresso really spoils you.As for the CitiZ, I am in awe of how elegant it is. It looks like a streamlined Art Deco object. While not heavy, it feels more substantial than the Essenza. Another big plus for me is that you can fold up the cup platform and therefore use a larger mug or cup. This is something that always bugged me about the Essenza. I make a double-shot latte almost every morning and sometimes a Lungo. I had to let the coffee flow into a shot glass or demitasse and then pour into into a taller cup. With the CitiZ, I can brew it directly into the taller cup. The other thing I love is the narrow footprint. I have limited counter space, so that is very important to me, and why I didn't consider the much wider CitiZ Aeroccino combo. Besides, I already have an Aeroccino Plus that was part of the package when I bought the Essenza. Hopefully it will keep working for quite a while. (I am going to use my little inexpensive Aerolatte wisk and microwave to heat and froth the milk with the Essenza now.)Here are a few of things I learned in researching which machine I wanted to buy: Every time I was in a store than sold Nespresso machines, I compared the Pixie, which is their newest machine, to the CitiZ. The Pixie is cute, but not as elegant as the CitiZ, and I didn't like that the foldable cup platform doesn't stay up on its own. A salesperson in one store told me that the cup you put there will keep the platform up in place, but to me it seems like a sloppy design decision. Someone, said in a review that Nespresso was the Apple of coffeemakers, and I tend to agree--even their packaging is reminiscent of Apple's. If those things matter to you, the Pixie, is definitely not Apple-like. I also wanted to know why some CitiZs come with different types of spouts. I wondered if one was an older version. It took some poking around the internet to find the answer--Nespresso has the machines made for them by 2 different companies, Krups and Magimix. Depending on the color you get, it will be made by one company or the other and there is supposed to be no internal difference, just a few differences on the outside. I ended up buying the Titanium with the teardrop-shaped spout. Finally, a lot of people, including myself have environmental concerns about the waste in buying the individual capsules. If you live in a city that has a Nespresso boutique, you can collect the used capsules and turn them in. I was doing that for a while, but found that no matter how well I tried to dry them out first, they would grow mold in the container I was saving them in. Recently, I decided to try again and when I brought them back to the store, told them about the mold problem. The salesperson gave me a special bag, that would eliminate the mold problem, and so far it has. For the majority of you who have to order their capsules by phone or internet, there is a device called the Outpresso which pushes out the grounds so you can throw them away and recycle the aluminum capsule. The problem is that this little plastic tool costs $30+shipping. It looks like Amazon used to sell them, but doesn't currently. I hope that they will again.

I was skeptical but....
I have been won over, this thing is great. As long as you stop your Starbucks visits this will pay for itself fairly fast. We love the speed and convenience of making coffee with this machine. I bought the starter special of 200 pods with a dispenser and we are having fun trying them all. Some are to weak for me, and one is very strong, I have to put an long shot of just water to dilute it a bit. This will make a latte in no time with great creme on top or you can whip it for more. Holds enough water in the tank for 4 large coffee's or 10 expresso's. Heats up very fast so it will supply hot water for tea as well. Small footprint on the counter and looks nice.

Coffee by mail???An excusive club you join by buying a gadget?
Yes, it makes good espresso. Yes, it's tidy and compact and easy to maintain. But before you buy one of these, think about how great it will be to have to go on line and place an order every time you want more coffee. I just ordered another 50 capsules and it cost me $6.95 for shipping. The business model is the same one that Xerox used to use for copiers...the price is reasonable, but you're forever bound to them for supplies. If this thing hadn't been so expensive, it would be in a good will store by now. I'll also have to admit that the whole marketing concept that you have somehow joined an exclusive club by buying a coffee machine makes me grind my teeth every time I have to sign onto the site, which in itself already has me steaming. Believe me, after a few times it gets really old, and it's hard to express how aggravating it becomes. Don't do this to yourself...there are other choices that are just as good. If I get a decent tax return, this thing is outa here.

Nespresso underperforms
I found it easy to use, was excited about making my first cup of coffee. After it brewed a cup I found the coffee temperature lukewarm. The second time around I warmed the cup and found it to again under perform.Unfortunately after several attempts at getting a hot cup of coffee I determined that the machine was either disfunctional or not able to heat the water adequately to a high temperature.Very disappointing.

machine was not new
Ordered a new Nespresso CitiZ from amazon directly, it arrived in a box, was packaged fine, so far so good. Then I opened it and started reading the manual on how to use it, the first step was to remove the plastic film and fill the tank with water... I did not find any plastic film to remove, but ok, no big deal. Then the manual said just to run water through the machine prior to the first use, without putting in any coffee capsules. So I started to do that, and the water that came out on the other side had coffee grounds in it! Someone obviously used this machine before! I called Amazon, they did authorize return or replacement, even though it has been more than a month since I bought it. After I argued with them some more, they also gave me a small credit on my account for the inconvenience (I had to log this big box to UPS to ship it back to them). Now I am waiting for the replacement, hope I won't have the same problem...Update: got the replacement, seems like this one is new and in good working order. Made a few cups, overall I think it makes very good espresso once you select the varieties that you like. I've been running the water through twice with the same capsule to make a bigger cup that is still strong enough. Pros of this machine: inexpensive, easy to use, warms up quickly, sleek design, good espresso. Cons: noisy, drips for a little while after the coffee is done. Of course it uses the proprietary nespresso capsules, but then you don't have to worry about choosing the good beans, grinding them, etc, so good for someone who is short on time. Overall, I think it was a good purchase other than having to exchange it.

This thing is the best! Nice size
This thing is the best! Nice size! Easy to use! Although sometimes it can be a little loud (if that kind of thing bothers you)when it first starts to brew but hey if it makes a nice espresso it could sound like a jet taking off and I'd still be happy

Buy it if you have bunch of time enjoy life...
1. I really like appearance of the product which is a bit retro, but has no shortage of modern. "Life was like a box of nespresso. You never know what you're gonna get", thanks the original box comes with 20 different taste capsules, so you can try till pick out the favorite one, and unfortunately, the capsules are too small that you even cannot make a small cup as starbucks or TimHorton.....sorry about that...that must hurt espresso's lover. ^_^!2. Some online video can teach you how to make taste of Starbucks with used nespresso capsule, that's awesome.(dont blame me..lol)3. I'll keep it because I have bunch of time to enjoy the espresso.
