it's a great fire starter i've used them before it's great for camping

I do not profess to be an outdoorsman and I am not skilled in making fire without "cheating." I thought this would take a flame from a Swedish fire starter and that was not the case. It barely took flame from a lighter. Cardboard is more effective for starting a fire. It was not wet, I pulled it apart and it was really disappointing.

You need this as an essential tool in your camping or survival bag. Highly recommended due to great performance.

Bought this at Wally-world on a whim, was impressed. It's cotton with a paraffin core. If you know what that means you know what to do with it. If you don't want to make your own, buy this for $3. Fits tight in the Habilis Bushtools tinder compartment. Thumbs up!

Una muy buena alternativa portátil al ocote o los cuadros de yesca (mismos que ya compré). Son duros y no se van a deshacer si los presionas en tu survival kit, también voy a comprar unos para traerlos en mi cangurera de diario.

I've used several of these in the field since they arrived a few weeks ago.Even unrolled and flaked out into thin strands, it has a hard time catching a spark in the cold, damp winter. Cotton balls, dryer lint, dry grass, and thinly shaved birch bark are all better.It does burn reasonably well, but no better than cotton balls with vaseline.They are dense and light, packing very easily, and a certainly better than nothing, but at a dollar a piece I was hoping for more.
