If you are looking for a quality Roman shield at an excellent price…
….you have come to the right place. Shipped incredibly quickly. Well packaged with no scratches or dents…despite the delivery service doing a number on the box. Absolutely beautiful painting, vivid and clean. As seen in other reviews it is not historically accurate… it is all metal… I like it more. Light weight. The ONLY negative is the handle seems 90 degrees off. And it is slightly big for my smaller fat hands … that is my problem not the maker. I almost want to buy another just because it is such a great deal . I almost bought one on Etsy for over a thousand dollars… this is well worth the price. Seriously, if you are reading the reviews you are already interested in buying one so just do it you will not be disappointed.

Looks great
Wonderful item though 1 corner was dinged a little. That was disappointing since it cost over $100.

Looks FANTASTIC.
Arrived within the time the reseller said it would. Was packed wonderfully, and looks SPECTACULAR. Has a nice weight to it. Everyone that comes over takes the Gladius and Scutum off the wall. Even the cat looks pumped up with Roman pride having it hanging there. :-) By the way, it's SUPER EASY to hang. I got a Gorilla Hook from Lowes. You just put it right through the dry wall, and that will hold up to 50 pounds, and this thing weighs less than 3. Then you get a length of bendable steel, kind of like what old iron coat hangers are made up, but more pliable, and will be in the same isle as the gorilla hooks. Just cut a length of that off, wrap both ends around each side of the handle, and hang it up. I also bought some soft plastic pads to put on the wall where the shield makes contact so it doesn't scrape the paint off the wall.

Definitely worth $120
This is honestly a really nice shield for the price. It is smaller than a historically accurate shield and is made of steel instead of wood but those accurate shields will run you a few hundred bucks on the low end. This shield appears hand painted and was coated in a light layer of oil. It is also quite heavy for it's size. I'm 5'4 so this looks a lot more proportional than it might for someone averaged height or taller. This is honestly a great piece to hang out for display or use for cosplay purposes. I'm planning to use this for a gladiator themed costume so this works well. It arrived within 4 days of purchase and ahead of the expected delivery date by 2-3 days.

Nice looking shield, but a couple things need improving
This shield looks great and the paint and graphics on the shield are what make it stand out, but I would be afraid to scratch the paint and ruin it, I would not want to take a hit on it either for the same reason. The thing that I really did not like, is the way the handle faces, instead of it being up and down its left to right which makes it awkward to hold and maneuver in any direction other then up or down. The way the handle is set up is probably historically accurate though, its just a weird way of doing it in my opinion. The handle is also difficult to hold on too and I had to wrap leather cord around it to get a good grip on it, and even with the wrap my hand still fits comfortably behind the boss with no rubbing what so ever So from what articles I have read this shield is not a full size Roman Soldier shield , as mine measures in at 35 inches tall but it still covers enough of my body were I would feel protected behind it. I am 5'11 and the shield covers from my shoulder top to my knees and around 75% of my width. On a taller person it might look smallish but it seems to perfect for around my height. Anyways for the price its a nice good looking shield that can be functional or just used as wall decoration

Worth it.
It's probably smaller than it was for them but I'm smaller in size than Romans were so it's all good for me lol. It's metal, light weight and easy to hold even with the handle the way it is. Doesn't hurt my wrist to hold surprisingly. It's rather fun to play with. It can't save me from being shot but would likely stop me from being stabbed 🤷. My hand isn't used to holding that kind of made handle so it hurts after a minute but that's what gloves are for. Or I could rap it in something 🤷 lol

Great item
It’s a great item, very practical but not to original size of a real Roman scutum.

Great costume item
Not a historically correct nor sized item, however, for halloween or for decorative purposes, its really hart to beat. Very sturdy, vibrant paint job and if you wanted to use it for its intended purpose, it’d probably fare well. Slightly shorter and not as wide as historic, all metal with the exception of the wood handle.

Good metal shield with a nice boss. Its 36 inches high and made with care, but its hard to hold because the boss handle on the back is tight. Great paint job. I use it for high school students as a prop and a compliment to the rest of my roman gear.

It not bad. A little scratch here and there. The handle is vertical instead of horizontal. But not bad at all. It looks very nice, and is heavy and solid. I recommend it.

It's cool, a little bit heavy but it completes the outfit. Should be considered for the replacement for the umbrella. ;)

I was hopping for a near realistic shield replica and got a smaller version that doesn't cover my knees. Only enough to cover the torso.
