Fresh Fern Moss for Terrariums and Bonsai

I recently purchased this so I could try my hand at Kokedama. None of the local nurseries in my area carry green moss like this, so I wasn't too thrilled with having to buy online since I couldn't be sure it would still be alive by the time it got to me.It took about a week to arrive, and when I opened the bag, I was happy to see lots of condensation. It was pretty much one thick sheet, which is just what I needed, and it was still (mostly) bright green and happy looking. There were a few brownish areas, but it was definitely still alive. The roots were still caked in a rich dark dirt.I think it has a pretty good chance of surviving on my Kokedama, and if my first attempt works, I'll definitely be ordering more moss from here to make more plants balls in the future.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I bought this moss to put in a terrarium with my carnivores plants which is a 10 gallon fish tank that is closed to outside air. About a few weeks after putting the moss in the terrarium, I noticed swivel lines around my tank resembling slug trails. It took hours to pinpoint where these trails were coming from. I then noticed SNAILS!!!! They were eating my carnivore plants which are not cheap plants. The eggs started hatching like crazy and the snails soon took over. The snails came from the moss because these type of snails are not native to where I live. It was a headache to get them out as I used salt and sand to repel them. This moss caused too much trouble and I was not happy that it came with live organisms living in it. I want to warn everybody because snails can survive in many different climates and they will murder your plants SLOWLY!!! 1 star to whoever is selling this moss. It came super dirty and I should have known better.

As others have said, quantity was good, but my moss arrived in two bunches rolled in a bag. One bunch looked mostly green (though not nearly as good as the seller's posted photo). The second bunch was mostly brown with pale yellow green tips, that is, mostly dead. But the package was inexpensive and arrived quickly and I have the poorer, nearly dead bunch in terrariums, so I hope it survives.You should also note that this is just moss peeled off a rock or stump from the forest. Mine arrived full of debris (twigs, seeds, dead leaves, etc). After seeing that and realizing it looks just like the stuff growing in the woods behind my house, I felt silly for not going out and collecting some myself. Even though it's winter, I think It would be better.(Photo shows the better quality moss).

I was really excited to get it - and they sent it in great shape. Seems to be varied in it's survival. I keep testing it. Jury's still out on this one, but I would say from it coming from the seller and you have great luck growing moss, you will love this. If you are new to this, read up before hand.

This is not fern moss, whatever it is. Two stars because it did arrive alive; ONLY two because it didn't stay that way long. And, you know, isn't at all the product described.

I am in love with this moss. It is going to look great in many places in my garden. Mostly in my miniature garden, it fits right in. It really does look like tiny little ferns. It arrived lush and green and has been great ever since. I plan to come back for more. Thanks for the great service.

Moss was mostly brown when I received it and I could never get it green. It looked nothing like the picture. Turned completely brown after a couple weeks.

Moss arrived in excellent condition: healthy green plants with very little browning at the edges. I have temporarily placed it in a plastic storage box with 1/4-inch potting soil for it to start growing.
