I found the quality of the scan could be considerably enhanced in post production work by using CyberLink's Director 5 suite, using Power Director 15 for editing the film and Color Director 5 for colour grading, correction and enhancing to true theatre colour. Audio Director 6 in the same suite enables sound to be easily added to the film. I find the scanned Super8mm film can be easily edited into other avi, AVCHD 1080 50I and 50p files. Overall the super 8mm scanner offers excellent results and is extremely good value for money. I thought there should be a better way to save the scan. However the compression is not a problem as AVI is not a codec, merely a container for the file, and it can easily be converted to H264 or H265 using Cyberlink's Director Suite 5. The Cyberlink suite contains Color Director 5, which I found invaluable for producing a very fine quality scan with Kodak K40 and 100D film. Hope this helps.
