Best robot I have ever owned
I purchased mine over 4 months ago now. I waited to make a review to be sure. I had a Deebot prior to this for almost a month before ultimately sending it back due to leaks. I was happy with it but it broke down quickly. That allowed me to take a chance on the promo discount on the Narwal Z Freo.I am not happy with this robot, I am thrilled with it. Robbie amazes me every day with his ability to clean, avoid obstacles, and never get lost.I have learned to not criticize its cleaning ability until after it says done. After first getting it I would once in a while see it leave a spot and manually clean it. Only to find it later re-mopping the same area and telling me so in the app. I'm not sure how it does it but it's way smarter than any iRobot I've ever owned. The edge mode works nearly perfect, the vacuum and roller is truly tangle free. The cleaning fluid lasted me 4 months before I needed to replace it. I have also added the stain remover pack and seems to help.No issues with leaks from robot or base station. Never gets stuck or tangled in cables/cords. Always docks, sometimes retries but always gets in. Clean/dirty tanks are a breeze to exchange due to not having to mix cleaner. Mop pads and dirt bag lasted 3 months with heavy use. Battery lasts for entire lower floor. It's the smartest and best cleaning robot I have owned and I've been buying these things since 2001.Now for the not so thrilled part of the review. Mapping is great but it sometimes recognizes walls as simple obstacles and this prevents you from dividing up rooms. Zones work to override this. It's also tall and can't get under a lot of our furniture. Solution is expensive if not on sale and proprietary. Cleaning upper floor is a pain because you have to walk the robot down to the base station multiple times if you are mopping.Advice: clean your base station where it cleans the mop pads. I let it go to long the first time and it was disgusting.

Upgrading from an OG Narwal Freo/Roomba i7+ combo to the Narwal Freo Z Ultra was a FANTASTIC move
Decided to replace the white whale OG Narwal Freo (primarily mopping) and a Roomba i7+ with a friendly cleaner that's as quiet as a ghost and could handle both vacuuming and mopping WITH obstacle avoidance.I moved my auto-water drain/refill station from Moby's cave to Casper's cave without issues and it works great!Mapping was just as fast as the OG Narwal, and the Z Ultra's object avoidance algorithm is SLICK. We have a ton of electronics and random phone chargers in the house and it avoided every single cord, and some of my roommate's dog's REAL pet surprise on the first run without issues (the surprise was left AFTER I started the first cleaning and went to bed, so... Thank you Narwal for that! π―π₯πππ€π₯π€π½)The Freo Z Ultra is on an entirely new level of autonomous mopping, in my opinion. I can't begin to explain how ridiculously good the mopping is, but with Freo Mind and the automatic water exchange system, I'll say it went from "game changing" to "LIFE CHANGING." I cannot explain just how ridiculously life changing NEVER HAVING TO TOUCH YOUR ROBOT is.I automated a Freo Mind (vacuum and mop simultaneously) schedule for 3AM every day, 7 days a week since I got it last Tuesday. I haven't touched it since. I wake up every day to clean floors... Vacuumed floors. MOPPED floors. REALLY. CLEAN. FLOORS.We have 3 cats, 3 dogs, and 3 people with long hair in this house. The dogs splash water, the cats kick litter, and the humans drop crumbs, splash drinks, cough and sneeze, drag their feet, come in and out of the house with dirty shoes. OH and we have 5 aquariums that we're constantly shuffling water to in order to top them off, and of course, we splash water all over the tile while doing this.NO MORE STAINS. No more crumbs, no more water spots, no more pet tracks on the tile, no more weird streaks from the stupid BraavaJet M6+, no more hassle with only running the mop when I'm around to babysit it. I can have the Freo Z Ultra clean while my girlfriend and I sleep, and I don't have to think about it anymore.Having 100% autonomous floor cleaning is an entirely different level of luxury that you have to experience to TRULY appreciate. The OG Freo changed the game for mopping, and the S1 Pro may have raised the bar, but when the Freo series (OG, X, and Z) can continue to mop 100% autonomously with ZERO human intervention, I will take the Freo series over the S1 Pro Every. Single. Time. The Freo Z Ultra, when paired with the Automatic Water Exchange System, will literally keep mopping the area and cleaning the pads until it's done with the mess. No gripes about running out of water, no getting up from the couch, or coming home to a half-assed job because it ran out of water halfway through the cycle, no forgetting to dump the dirty water tank while away for the weekend and coming back to a tank that absolutely REEKS. The Freo Z Ultra (with automatic water exchange system) is the kind of hassle-free cleaning I always dreamed about, ever since the original Roomba hit the market. It's literally the type of cleaning experience we've ALL been waiting for.===Biggest gripe about the unit is how the roller goes into the unit. It has a guide pin and two "tongs" on either side of the roller, but while it looks rotationally symmetrical, it's not.If you get something lodged in the roller (I HATE TWIST TIES! I HATE THEM SO MUCH) and you take the roller out to clean the area, you can accidentally install the roller's tongs "upside down" and you might not even notice. You WILL notice the vacuum can't dock though, it'll reverse and clip the auto-empty bin hole over and over.If this is happening to you, take the roller out and spin the roller 180Β° so the tongs are in their proper orientation, then close it up. And... probably run the vacuum again because the roller most likely fell out of position and didn't agitate the carpet fibers to loosen anything.Aside from that, the Z is a fantastic step up from the OG Freo. I think keeping the same form factor as the OG Narwal and especially the water tanks was a genius move for reducing production costs and making the water tank universal between Freo models. Standardizing parts to minimize production costs - that's big brain thinking, Narwal ππ½ππ½ππ½ and it was executed perfectly!Day 12 with my Freo Z Ultra, ZERO TANGLES, ZERO ISSUES, FLAWLESS FLOORS!!! Can't wait to see how the "heavy duty detergent" and "floor maintenance" modules work!!! Let's GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
