it is so diabolical that people who love terrible films will lap this up
A truly dreadful film! Poorly directed, awful acting, the 'Beaster Bunny' seems to have miximitosis. However, it is so diabolical that people who love terrible films will lap this up. I have shown this to several friends, I fear if I show it anymoreβ someone will throw me out of an aeroplane with no parachute!

This is the best worst, worst best film I have ever seen. A solid four out of five from me.

Horror comedy, not horror
In spite of how this is categorised by Amazon, it's definitely meant to be a comedy. Some of the humour lies in the combination of gruesome, and very rubbish, special effects. It's not a patch on early Peter Jackson stuff, such as Bad Taste / Dead Alive / Braindead, however. For me, 3/5 stars and above means I don't regret the time watching a movie. So this has to be a 2/5 I'm afraid, as it just didn't work for me. It rarely made me laugh.Tellingly, there's one scene which again is clearly played for laughs and is a parody of exploitative slasher movies from decades ago. A topless woman runs around in panic after seeing the monster. The camera knows exactly where to focus, and the woman moves around in a certain way to make things enjoyable. It's telling, because it was the most memorable scene in the entire film, and it wasn't funny - it was just enjoyable to see a beautiful topless woman, and frankly the scene belonged in a very different sort of film.

Cost more to rent than to make
There is a certain cult genre of B-movie films that are so poor they are actually funny (think of "Plan 9 from Outer Space".) This film is intentionally attempting to be that genre and, on occasion, it is genuinely laugh out loud funny but, when it isn't, it is poorly acted, badly directed, has next to no plot and the effects are often just plain poor. The plot, what there is of it, consists of a giant, rat-like rabbit chomping its way through the local community which appears to mainly consist of large-breasted young women. In pursuit are the local dog-catchers who appear to be slightly less animated than the poorly realised marionette bunny. And that's about it really.I'll give this two stars as it does have it's moments and may be suitable for a Friday night post-pub giggle but I'd only suggest going for it if it ends up free on Amazon Prime. If you do enjoy a good black comedy-horror then I'd suggest going for the New Zealand film "Black Sheep" which is probably what this film was aiming for and benefits from a coherent plot, decent effects and wickedly robust Kiwi humour.

Has become one of my favourite of the campy b-movies
I have watched this every Easter for the past about four years, and have yet to find another Easter related horror movie that I enjoy as much as this.Don't get me wrong. Any review that you see of this saying that it is awful is technically correct. The special effects for example are about as bad as it is possible to be. The word 'special' has never been used more loosely. But that's what's fun about it. The actual creature in this movie has to be seen to be believed, words cannot do justice to how bad it looks. The joke is that this film is supposed to be stupid in every way, but it's a joke that's actually funny. I don't remember any attempt at humour in this movie that didn't land. They were trying to make a hilariously bad movie, and they very much succeeded. Not going to be everybody's cup of tea, but if you're watching this movie expecting it to be Citizen Kane, then that's kind of your fault. That's clearly not what they're gong for.
