It is easy to program - I didn't even need to use the instructions. My only "complaints" are features that I knew it didn't have when I bought it but now wish it did - like WiFi access so I could adjust it from my phone and an option to set it to skip a couple days (i.e. because of rain) and then go back to its regular program. Currently I have to turn it off, then remember to turn it back on again. I also wish it was a little easier to use manually if I want to say hose something by hand.
