We had two drives that we thought were doa but the instructions on this let us know that we needed to *initialize* them first and THEN we could format them. (Been awhile since we messed with aany computer hardware tbh). Very portable with a sturdy cable, it spun the drives up quickly. Took a minute to realize it was a SLIDE case (like the one on my old ipod! Lol) and after than it was a breeze to open. Just the ricght size for the drives without taking up a ton of space - easy to store in a drawer.
