The suction in terms of keeping it attached to the surface is probably the best I have ever seen. There are knobs at the back for tightening the positions of the stem to pedestal and stem to screen holder including the option to rotate.I would recommend this product for stationary surfaces only. I used this to hold my tablet on a boat. The screen holder slides onto the stem but there is no secure "click" that holds in. A narrow windscreen and a tall dashboard mean that, to avoid illegally obscuring the driver’s view, even my 4” TomTom had to be mounted on the top of the dash rather than on the windscreen. Despite a fairly heavily textured dashtop, onto which my TomTom won’t stay stuck, the Pomile’s sticky sucker clings like a startled limpet!DO NOT throw away the sucker’s protective film – it’s needed if you ever want to remove the mount without immediately re-fitting it.What the listing photo (above) doesn’t show is that the holder is upside-down with the potential to become detached from the ball-swivel at the end of the arm.Designed to be stuck to the inside of a screen, mounted on a dash-top it doesn’t work as well as it so easily could with a bit more thought in the design. For my purpose, it was the best I could find, but could have been so much better.Vital statistics missing from the listing:1) Holder ball joint has a maximum articulation of ~ 35°.2) The elbow on the arm is not 90° but roughly 107½° (90 + 35/2).3) Thus with the ‘upper arm’ is horizontal, the holder (and the device in it) can be angled between vertical and 35° downwards.PROThe sucker cup is much bigger (over 90mm) than the usual 70mm and has a soft, sticky (not adhesive) layer to seal the sucker cup onto textured, non-porous, plastic surfaces – even slightly curved. Amazingly effective.The sucker cup has the usual tab to lift the edge to break the suction, even so it takes some peeling-off though leaves no marks.The holder holds my 530g Acer Aconia 10” tablet securely and will extend to even larger tablets (dimensions in the listing).The device holder’s extending action is lightly spring-loaded which makes fitting the holder to the devise easy and there’s a positive turn-buckle type lock to ensure that the holder doesn’t accidentally open to drop your device.CONThe sucker sticks as soon is it comes into contact with the mounting surface and the arm can only be adjusted up and down in a vertical arc, but not rotated horizontally. So, getting the base unit positioned correctly and the arm correctly angled horizontally is a matter of trial and error.The locking lever adds suction to ensure the sucker stays stuck but there’s some ‘give’ in the sucker so my tablet vibrates badly. I need to experiment with a hard foam pad between the arm and the top of the dash to stop this.The sucker takes some peeling off, and once off, is VERY sticky, so now it’s in the correct position, I’m leaving it in place.Lowering the upper arm below the horizontal means your device’s screen is angled downwards.The arm cannot be folded back over the suction base [photo], nor can it be removed, rotated 180° and refitted so that the elbow points down (which would be much better for my purposes). A simple and obvious improvement that didn’t occur to the designer.Four prongs on the ball-swivel unit [photo] attach it to the device holder via a slot-in-and-slide arrangement. This clicks firmly into place but if the holder is rotated so that it extends downwards, the weight of your device tends to undo the attachment as there’s no safety lock. I’ve fitted a small self-tapping screw [photo] to lock the device holder to the ball-swivel unit – this is not screwed right down to avoid it’s point fouling the head’s extending mechanism.Only small devices can be safely mounted in normal phone orientation. With the device-holder in landscape orientation, one good jolt would dump your device on the floor!It’s designed for LHD, with the arm-locking knob on the passenger side for RHD.BEWAREIt’s essential that the car mounting surface is really clean and free of both dust and the vile silicone spray used by car valetters; I’ve found that best safe remover is neat screen wash additive on ¼ squares of kitchen paper roll, discarded as soon as dirty.
