Flimsy and cheap plastic. But functional. We bought it to measure our horses. Strapped it to a solid piece of wood and it works alright. Better than buying a horse measuring stick for $50!

I don’t know about the bad ratings, but this ruler really works for measuring height because it’s got a bar like the doctors office. Once installed, I used a tape measurer to check that the scale is accurate, and very accurate indeed. Inch by inch it matches. You have to used double sided tape to tape the measuring sticks to a flat surface. We used door way moulding as it is flat from floor to the top of the moulding.

I love how easy it was to assemble and use. My only criticism is that the slider does slip too easily but other than that I like that I don’t have to use all the pieces if I don’t need to, so it’s easier to store. I bought this to measure my growing dogs and it’s great. For anyone who does not want to DIY measuring wickets for dogs and don’t have the money for expensive ones, this product does the trick. It’s accurate, easy to use, travel size, and light weight.

Each of the connectable 12” rulers aren’t actually 12”. They actually measure 11 7/8”. So much for getting an exact mesurement. Also, even if this was accurate, setup is a hassle
