Q: Are these the same ingredients/product as the weatherproof rabbit repelling stations ?

Yes, the ingredients are the same as the rabbit repelling stations. The deer stations come with taller stakes for either hanging or placing into the ground, since deer are a wee bit taller than rabbits.

Q: Will my dog smell it? Will the scent cause him any problem?

My dog also found and chewed the entire casing and inside. Is it harmful to dogs ? I was thinking not too much since it is dried blood no real chemical. Am I wrong?

I haven't used This particular product before, however I have used A dried Blood product from my local nursery in granular form that was 100% worth it. I live in a very Rural area, well away from busy roads. Our Farm is part Open Fields, part wooded area, so Deer, Groundhogs, Skunks, Opossum and so on, have been pretty much the every day/night battle for many, many years. With their constant trips to my very Large Vegetable, Fruit and Flower gardens, something was always being either completely destroyed, eaten to the ground or like the Deer, just waiting until my Lilies bloom, then snapping off every single flower to eat and leaving me with the stems. Argh!! I HATE that. I have gardened on this Farm for more than 28 years and can tell you unequivocally, nothing works better than motion activated scarecrows. I use the water ones, but I'm getting tired of having to remember to hook them up every night, so I'm thinking of switching to the Solar powered ones that make the sonic animal sounds. Anyhow, I'm surprised to hear this stuff didn't work, maybe they aren't using Cattle blood? The stuff I used was dried Cattle blood. Stunk to high Heavens and of course I had to replace it after it rained, but it Worked great. Different areas, different populations of deer, different appetites, etc. Our deer will eat stuff now that they wouldn't touch 20 years ago, pretty strange I tell you.
