It’s NOT Damascus steel and likely NOT abalone! If it were, it’d be A LOT more expensive!
The first thing to say is that this knife—for a low mid-range pocket knife—includes a surprisingly nice and well-made sheath. And it fits the knife very well, although I would put the knife in the sheath blade-pointing-down, so that you’ll have something to grab to more easily pull the knife out of the sheath. As for the knife itself, I’m choosing to focus on the important negatives or else this review will become too long. Having over 50 years experience with pocket knives, I’m going to state bluntly that IF this knife had genuine Damascus steel as well as genuine Abalone shell that the knife would cost at least 3 times its present price point. I own multiple knives with real Damascus steel as well as real abalone shell and they all cost me 3-4 times what this knife is selling for. I appreciate the company’s commitment to making affordable knives—I really do—but there’s no need to make unwarranted claims about the knife’s make-up. What they are calling genuine Damascus steel has actually been imprinted/stamped to look like Damascus. But it is not genuine Damascus. And the scales (handles) are predominantly a thick layer of resin or acrylic topped with razor thin pieces of faux-abalone or even possibly real abalone. The point is that it’s paper thin and is only meant to look like a substantial piece of abalone. Now, granted, the knife does look very pretty. And I like the bolsters, the tight belt clip, and even the fit and finish (with one exception). But the knife is claiming to be something it’s NOT. It’s not real Damascus and its “abalone” is very specious. Moreover, the blade does not lock into place very well. I have to manually shove it in place to get it to lock. Maybe a little oil will help with this, I’m just not sure yet. At first glance it is a good-looking knife, but please understand that it’s relatively low price point can be that low b/c corners were deliberately cut with respect to the Damascus steel and the abalone. And I just can’t support a knife that purposely says it’s something when it is not.

Great pocket knife!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Very nice pocket knife! I have no way of knowing if the blade is real Damascus steel, but it looks the part and the blade comes extremely sharp from the manufacturer. The handle is very nice looking, although it is clear plastic with the shell design on a thinner piece underneath. The locking mechanism works well and keeps the blade from folding up while in use. A thumb lever to deploy the blade is a nice feature too and works well. The leather carry case has a belt loop for those that like to carry. Build quality appears to be top notch. I would say this is a very good all around pocket knife at a very good price for what you're getting

Gorgeous Knife
This is a very attractive knife. The blade has that beautiful Damascus grain pattern and the handle has a mother-of-pearl-ish sort of look. The included leather sheath is handy, functional, and attractive. The blade opens easily and is literally razor sharp right out of the box. It is up there as one of the sharpest knives I have ever purchased.I have only two concerns about this knife and neither is serious enough (in my opinion) to award it anything less than five stars. The first is about safety. The knife is incredibly sharp, has a pointed tip, and locks into the open position. Unfortunately, it has to be unlocked in order to fold it closed and that is where it gets a little sketchy. It can certainly be done safely, but there is a moment when the blade needs to fold towards your finger a bit and I just don't like that. It's a common feature with almost all knives of this variety, but I have seen some lock back knives where the button to fold the knife closed is on the spine of the knife, not on the blade side. That seems safer to me.The second concern is about sharpening. This is going to be a pain in the neck to sharpen without removing the blade. The last two thirds of the blade (towards the tip) won't present any issue when sharpening, but that last third near the handle is going to be awful. It can be done, but it's going to be hard to do without scratching up the handle and getting smooth, even strokes on a stone is going to be next to impossible. All in all, I'd say this deserves 4.5 stars. It has a couple of issues, but it's generally a really nice knife and it's not a bad deal for the price.

Nice Knife
This is a really nice looking knife and would make a good gift. The blade has the Damascus look and you can see the layers from the back of the blade (see pic). It has a hefty feel and offers a solid grip thanks to the serrations on the back of the handle. It also has a pocket clip so you won’t have to dig to retrieve it. I considered the sheath that comes with it is an “extra”, it is not impressive but will do the job. I did not order it for the sheath but for the knife. The blade opens easily with a flick of the finger, it locks with a spring clip that holds well. Closing the blade is a two hand operation. Overall this is a good value for a nice knife.

Sharp, looks nice
Abalone Shell HandleI have a friend who loves knives like this, so it's a birthday present for him. This is a really nice looking knife, and it comes sharpened to boot. And sharpened with a good, sharp edge. It opens and closes smoothly, it feels comfortable in my hand, and the pattern welded metal blade looks nice. The sheath is also pretty nice, made of a thick leather that doesn't give much.5 stars
