Excellent Doorbell – Huge Upgrade
The Tapo D235 2K 5MP Wireless Doorbell is such a great doorbell and has been a massive improvement over the very well-known brand it replaced—the difference really is night and day. Setup and mounting beside my front door were quick and straightforward. The image quality is very good, with a sharp, clear picture, and the app is user-friendly and genuinely a pleasure to use. I’ve installed it using just the internal battery and have been impressed with how long it lasts, even with regular use. Notifications are reliable and everything works smoothly. Overall, an excellent wireless doorbell that offers great performance, ease of use, and fantastic value. I’m very glad I made the switch and would highly recommend it.

Blown away by it!
I had a google nest doorbell for about 5 years and with yet another price hike for the annual cloud subscription I decided to get rid of it and swap for something more affordable in the long term. I didn't have to do too much research. 1 - I have a lot of TP Link products and know they're really good. And 2 - this doorbell consistently comes in the top 5 of best smart doorbell reviews. The main thing I was looking for was a subscription free product with no adverts in the app before being able to view the footage. Now I have the D235 2K 5MP Doorbell and the Tapo app, the only thing I'm annoyed about is that I didn't get it earlier! I've hard wired mine as I already had the wires in place. (the battery life sounds seriously impressive if you don't have the wiring already in place.) But I also really like the fact that if the mains power goes down, the camera can continue to work and will record to the memory card, so isn't reliant on a constant power supply or wifi/internet to keep recording. Although the google doorbell was able to use the original/traditional chimes in the house, I haven't been able to get this to work with this Tapo doorbell - despite the instructions saying it's possible. I tried every wiring combination that I could think of, but in the end gave up on it. It's not the end of the world as the included "smart" chime is really easy to set up, is very loud (volume control within the app) and is a great replacement for the old chime. I have also connected it to my google account, so the google devices around the house also announce when the bell has been rung. As with all TP Link and Tapo products, this is an absolute breeze to set up and was added to the app within a couple of minutes. The app guides you through the physical installation and again this was really easy with all the parts and accessories you might possibly need included in the box. The whole thing was set up and working within 10 minutes. Once working, the response time to view the footage in the app is outstanding. It's so much quicker than any other camera app I have used - including Google nest, Amazon Ring, Yi/Kami and Nooie. In fact, I was so impressed it's prompted me to now replace all the various cameras I have set up around the house with new Tapo ones - and move entirely to this ecosystem. The video quality is very good and easy enough to pick up details like faces at a distance and car number plates. The Ultra-wide view is great for being able to see parcels left by the doorstep - and with ours you can even see if the door is fully shut, so when you're out you can watch back to see if the kids remembered to lock the door! Without any doubt, the night vision mode is 100% better than anything the Google camera produced. I got this during a new year sale - but like sofas at DFS, I think it's pretty rare to not find these on some kind of offer - But to be honest, I genuinely think even at the full RRP, this is great value for money. Although initial set up is very quick, there are a lot of settings to go through to get everything right and as you want it, so I probably kept playing with various settings (detection modes, alerts and notifications etc) for another couple of days. I'm still not completely happy with some of the set up - I can view the footage on my Google Hub display screens by saying "hey google show me the front door" and it shows it fine, but I cannot get it to automatically display when the doorbell rings. So far I cannot work out if this is a flaw with Tapo or Google home, but either way the integration isn't perfect. It can identify humans, pets and parcels but has no facial recognition. So you won't ever get "Joe is at the front door" announced over your smart speakers as you can with other systems like google or Ring. Instead you get a fairly oddly worded "Person moving is at the front door", which isn't the best. So I might end up turning this notification off entirely. Overall though, this bit of kit completely gets my recommendation. It's good value, exceptional quality, a really good user experience and all subscription and ad free. Perfect!

Great Doorbell
I had been comparing many doorbells and found this Tapo D235 doorbell which after a recommendation of tapo doorbells from a CCTV security company, having owned a previous indoor tapo camera and noting this doorbell can be powered from existing doorbell wiring, I decided to buy it. In the box comes the doorbell itself, a chime, 2 types of wedges and backing plate, charging cable, jumper cable to bypass the existing chime, wired to extend the doorbell wiring, adhesive strip screws and installation guide. Installing the doorbell can either be stuck to the wall using the supplied adhesive strip or in my case drilling holes and screwing in the back plate and wedge (optional). The doorbell then clicks onto the back plate. Before touching any wiring the doorbell needed to be switched off at the circuit breaker. Once the back plate was fixed on to the wall I connected the 2 existing doorbell wires to the 2 screw points at the bottom rear of the doorbell. Next I had to bypass the existing chime as I wanted to power the doorbell from the existing wiring. This was a bit tricky as the wiring for my chime didn't look like the guidance from tapo. After as few tries it was up and working and the tapo app does tell you if it is actively being powered from the hard wiring or the battery. The app is useful as it guides you through this setup and once done helps you configure the doorbell itself. Operating the doorbell over the last week I've found the doorbell was highlighting motion outside of the boundary areas I setup. What mostly fixed this had been reducing the sensitivity of this event type and found you can re-assign events it's found to re-train the doorbell AI. Other than that I've also managed to connect my Google mini and other phones to receive notifications from the doorbell. Note the Google mini also sounds the chime. The video quality both day and night is good and I can make out people, cars etc clearly. Few things to watch out for. The battery is internal and cannot be replaced like other tapo models. If hard wiring check your chime and online YouTube videos to see if you'll come across any issues. If you need extra chimes currently you cannot buy any and it's not clear the tapo hub which has a chime supports this doorbell. The doorbell needs a stable WiFi connection as my mobile 5G router didn't work well with it but the broadband one did. Overall I'm happy with the doorbell and would recommend it.

Love it
Had this up for a few weeks now and I love it. The fisheye lens sees everything! We have powered ours to take advantage of the 24/7 recording feature which is proving to be very handy. It works like a charm, the plug in bell rings, my phone rings, the audio is pretty good, the picture is really good and it's nice not to have to open the door to annoying cold callers etc!!! I must admit I went for a Tapo as I have quite a few Tapo devices, plugs/bulbs/cameras and therefore I knew setup would be effortless as I have the app running already. Still it's so easy to setup, connects straight to the wifi, picks up and movement of people and animals poking around outside my door. This is a quality item, and no subscription to pay!!

Pontos a melhorar: O principal inconveniente é a questão do armazenamento cloud.

Very good

Pensavo dalle recensioni che fosse decisamente meglio. Presa inglese per il cicalino ed un prezzo troppo elevato per la qualità delle immagini 2k inesistente ed una qualità audio pessima.
