I was unsure about this as the 12 year old was such a sublime whisky and people have said this isn’t as good. The richness of the port finish really comes though in this. Lovely and warming and a slight tannin finish. Great dram and brilliant in the collection. Always good to have a variety to swap between.

The old packaging was classy The new abstract design is certainly not liked by me

Of course we all have different tastes, however I think this is one of the loveliest whisky’s I have ever tasted. If anyone wanted to buy me a bottle I should be happy to accept.

Qualsiasi Glenmorangie vi capiti sotto tiro sappiate che sarete sempre nell'ambito dell'eccellenza dei whisky scozzesi.A differenza degli altri "fratelli" questo Quinta Ruban è un whisky un pò diverso dagli altri Glenmorangie in quanto l'invecchiamento dei due anni finali nelle botti di Porto si sente e lo contraddistingue.E' un whisky corposo e abbastanza speziato con note soprattutto di miele.Altra caratteristica è che non essendo filtrato a freddo si percepiscono tutti gli odori fruttati.Si avvicina in alcuni aspetti al Glenmorangie "Lasanta"Lo consiglio a chi voglia provare un qualcosa di originale

Geschmack ist ein subjektives Viech, das tages- und personen-abhängig recht stark variiert, aaaaber jeder hat nun mal seine Vorlieben. Bei mir sind das zwei recht unterschiedliche Richtungen:- der trockene, würzige Rye (Roggen) -> Truthan, Northern Harvest, Pikesville- port/sherry finished Single Malts mit ihre Fruchtexplosionen auf der ZungeUm den für mich den "idealen" Single Malt zu finden habe ich einige Kandidaten in voller Flaschenstärke über einige Monate hinweg mir einverleibt:- Auchentoshan Three Wood 12 Y- Ardmore Port Wood 12 Y- Glenfiddich 15 Y Solera- GlenDronach 12 Y- Glenmorangie QUINTA RUBAN 14 YKlar gibt es da noch einige mehr von diesen Typus, mit recht unterschiedlichen Charakter und auch Preisen.Jeder der oben genannten Vertreter ist schon ein Highlight und hat auch seine Freunde gefunden.Da wir auch mal in der Familie einen Whisky Abend machen, ist hierbei nicht nur mein persönlicher Geschmack ausschlaggebend gewesen, nein besonders die weibliche Fraktion hat sich sofort in den Quinta Ruban verliebt.Was mir besonders an diesem Whisky gefällt ist (unter Verzicht auf subjektive Kriterien):- Der rötliche Stich in der vollen Farbe, welche rein aus der Faßreife stammt.- Der himmlische Duft nach Beerenfrüchten, ohne die manchmal zu harten Alkohol-Noten.- Der Verzicht auf eine Kombination von Frucht mit Rauch/Torf.- Die Fruchtexplosion auf der Zunge.- Der recht lange Abgang mit einer schönen Produktion von Speichelfluß.Was mir nicht so gefällt:- Die schnöde Verpackung, das machen andere besser mit einer schön gestalteten Tube.- Der Preisregion liegt doch höher, als bei den anderen Probanten.- Der Preßkorkverschluss, aber da sind's die anderen auch nicht viel besser.Schlußendlich ein sehr, sehr guter Vertreter seiner Klasse für Einsteiger und Fortgeschrittene. Wer ein bisschen mehr ausgeben will, wird hier sicherlich nicht enttäuscht, bis auf die Torf- und Rauchfraktion.
