Great product! Does what it should!
I'm not so sure why there are mixed reviews on this item. If you follow the clearly written instructions that come with the product then there shouldn't be any issue with stability or security. This adapter works like a charm! I feel 100% secure with leaving my bike unattended for a short while when on the road. The actual latching/locking mechanism holds the axle so tight that it's impossible to unthread it while latched in. Trust me, I tried! I use this product on my Yakima Viper bike rack for my full-suspension Trek mountain bike that has a 15mm quick-release thru-axle in the fork. This adapter is quality built and because of the locking latch, it actually makes mounting any thru-axle bike much easier compared to the the Yakima thru-axle adapter which doesn't lock and is a pain to work with. I originally bought the Yakima adapter and then returned it when I realized it doesn't secure the bike at all. This one however, does! The only issue I have is now I must carry two keys: one for my rack and one for this adapter. Big deal! Don't waste your time and get your bike stolen, buy this adaptor first.

Quality product. Well built, solid, and secure. Good for SeaSucker.
Works very well. I have it on the SeaSucker Talon and now the Mini Bomber. It'll fit 100mm x 15mm thru axles, as well as Boost TA too.A good, future-proof investment; likely usable if MTB standard ever moves to 120mm x 15mm...When used on the SeaSucker QR mount, it'll shift forwards or backwards slightly if the DriveShaft legs are not secured tightly. Make sure you get the legs really tight to the QR mount. When i say tight, i mean really tight. Twirl the QR tightening lever to an incredulously tight tolerance (you'll find it impossible to push the QR lever in with your bare hands). I had to use a hammer to tap the tightening lever into place.

Performs Nicely
Purchased for use with a Thule 517 fork mount tray and a bike with a QR15 front axle. It mounts securely to the Thule and holds the bike axle quite nicely. Locking mechanism works well and seems secure (very similar to Thule locks). The mount will rotate some front to back, but is easily prevented by adding a second strap to secure the rear tire (as is mentioned in the instructions). Would recommend to anyone looking to use QR15s or QR20s on a fork mount tray.

Great lock but where's the key?
The product is very sturdy and we'll made. The only problem and a big problem it was, there was no key in the box. I had to get a lock Smith to cut a new key for me as I needed it to be usable asap and I couldn't be bothered emailing Amazon and waiting for the key to arrive. The product works well as intended though.

Great product!
RockyMount's locking thru axle adapter is a great product. After reading mediocre reviews, I was skeptical about this purchase. However, once it was fitted to my thule roof rack, everything fit great and was solid as a rock.My full suspension mountain bike is secure in public, and also on the road. Even though this is the only locking thru axle adapter, it is high quality and very well made!

Fully tested during cross country off-road trip
Worked great on cross country road trip! Traveled from New York to Utah and back in a 4x4 off-road vehicle with the bike in a tray on the top of the truck. I did steal additional rear wheel straps from another tray rack I had to secure the bike from front-rear movement, but this worked perfectly. Climbing dunes in Michigan and rock crawling in Moab couldn't shake the bike loose. Which assured me the several thousand highway miles we covered wouldn't be any issue.

A good solution for the unfortunate missmatch of fork-mount and thru-axle
This product does what it says - provides a way to use your existing fork mount carrier with a thru-axle bike - and with locking. The locking is as good as any other bike carrier - a determined thief could easily get around the lock, but it'll stop the honest thieves. I'll trust it during daylight hours, but I usually bring the bikes in to my hotel room or lock them in the car for over-nights.The clamping mechanism is particularly nice compared to (non-locking) adapters that involve threading the axle through the adapter. With this one you simply take your wheel off, reattach the axle, and *then* lift the bike on top of the car. It's a lot easier to deal with and has a lot less potential for dropping the bike during the process. The only cons are: * size - it's huge and changes the entire dynamics of how the bike fits on the car * movement - the entire mount swivels if you brake / accelerate hard - this can be worked around some by thoughtful positioning, but ultimately you're relying on the rear strap more with this sort of mount * the plastic shim has a tendency to fall off if you're not carefulAll in all, it's the best solution I've seen to the thru-axle problem. I'm buying a second one for my wife's car so I don't have to swap out whenever I anticipate wanting to lock my bike up.

You get what you pay for.
Like that this a rugged mount that has bushings to protect your bike’s axle. It is easy enough to use and has a lock for security.

It works!
Very decent product, but it could hold onto the thru-axle skewer a little tighter, preventing it from rotating and thereby allowing the front fork to shift around while secured. Not too serious however because there is no way it’ll let go of the bicycle fork! Allows extended use of roof racks designed to hold onto the front fork with bikes having thru-axles. Overall a good product and it does what is expected of it.

Please read before buying...
Bought this as a stop-gap before I could afford to buy a new hitch mount carrier (was using a roof mount unit which required removal of the front wheel). The new bike had a maxle so it wasn't compatible with my existing carrier. While this device does help with the whole maxle problem, I found it moves around too much which makes it really difficult to load and a little bit nerve racking on the highway. The problem is the way it secures to the existing carrier - this allows it to pivot around where it fastens to the carrier so the bike can either move forward when braking or move aft in a strong wind (esp. on the highway). Additionally, the maxle can slide laterally in the clamp. If it is a temporary fix or used sparingly for local commutes (non-highway, etc.) it is okay. If you have a lot of money invested in your bike, I would recommend saving up and buying a new carrier.
