very nice holder
I was hoping this would fit my phone and it did . lg optimus V. Very easy install. The handlebar locking mechanism is very well build and holds the unit securely without roll. The side clamps of the phone holder itself adjust tightly against the phone ( without the protective cover I use )and the pad behind the phone seems to not only be good padding but supplies some non skid action. I was a bit worried that the bottom tab positioned on the left bottom corner might not be enough to prevent the phone from slipping out the bottom of the unit...but I now think it will be fine. I still think one on each side would have been better design but the phone seems very secure and able to withstand bumpy rides. The unit has a quick release lever at the bottom on the back side that releases the side clamps easily for easy removal of the phone. As long as the clamping mechanism ( the only moving parts ) holds up I think this unit will last. Only time will tell...

Probably the Best on the Market Today...
I've recently gotten back in to riding my bicycle, 10-20 mile rides several times a week (when the weather's nice enough). I do all of my riding on the road. I wanted a mount so that I could see what is going on with strava and endomondo, as well as listen to music in the background - neither of which is feasible in the jersey pocket.I spent greater than a month looking for a mount that was solid, sturdy, and capable of holding a Samsung Galaxy S3, with an Incipio Dual Pro case - large phone, made even larger by the case. During my research, I found that most quality mounts were made directly for the iPhone and many of the "generic" mounts appeared to leverage a variety of cheap, flimsy plastic parts - a common theme among them were that the phone dropped from the mount and the mount actually breaking free of the clip. Unfortunately, many local bike shops only had a very small selection of mounts - many were just iPhone mounts.I've rode with the Minoura mount for 50+ miles now and can honestly say it appears extremely solid and has met all of my expectations. The mounting clip is very solidly made and I do not foresee it coming loose on large bumps, which I've already experienced a few times. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is already large to begin with, and it fits well without the case, and is VERY snug with the case on... a few more mm of total thickness and it may exceed the size of the mount. A larger case, such as an Otterbox, might not work in this mount with this particular phone - but that's only a guess. It comes with a small clear plastic/rubber strip that goes between the bar mount and the bar. This ensures a snug, slip-free attachment point while protecting the finish of your bicycle. The clip also has a tension adjustment screw that leverages one of the standard sizes of allen wrenches that are in my repair multitool. This ensures a good fit for any size bar. While I can't guarantee that the phone wouldn't fly off in an emergency situation, I think that would be your last concern. I do feel the tension of the adjustable sides are strong and wouldn't come loose under normal conditions. There is also a small rubber band like strap that can be used as a secondary securing device, but I think you could be safe without it - but if you want the additional piece of mind, use it.Overall - this is the mount I've been dying to find... Definitely recommended.

mostly good
I have an extended battery for my galaxy S4, so it is a little thicker than usual. It barely fits, but the braces wrap around the phone. I used it a few times and suddenly, the phone completely popped out and fell to its death onto the pavement. This thing cost me $300+. I will say that I was not using the rubber band. use with caution.

Very high quality bar clamp, plastic phone holder is suspect.
Great phone holder for the iPhone4s. 22-29mm is a small size diameter handlebar that you might find on a mountain bike. Road bike dropout handlebars are the bigger size. The one thing I dislike is the phone holder itself--its plastic. Feels like it would break if you were to go down on your bike. The bar clamp though, is the best I've ever seen.

Great phone mount
I replaced another inferior mount Satechi CR-3800 Universal Bicycle Holder Wrench Mount for iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, 3G, BlackBerry Torch, HTC EVO, DROID, Samsung EPIC, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note with this amazing product. After a little of annoyance with adjusting this mount is perfect. With my last mount (see above) bumps were an issue, my phone would come loose and would rock and shimmy and was just a pain. With this mount the phone stays put and does not move a bit. I love it, and have no complaints. I would suggest to anyone looking for an amazing phone mount.****UPDATE****I have since gotten a new cellphone...Samsung Galaxy Note II, and it is a very, very tight squeeze getting it into this phone grip. Tight to the point that it really doesn't fit. I tried shoving the Note into the grip and the padding rubbed off a little onto the edges of the phone. I am thinking of attempting to shave down the padding a little and trying again. But, with less padding comes less protection. I will have to see what happens.

Not for Otter Box protected iPhones
When I ordered this, I hoped it would work with the Otter Box Defender case that I also ordered. It does not. The collapsing jaws do not wrap around the edge of the thicker case. To use this bracket, I'd have to remove the iPhone every time I take a ride. Since that would, in time, ruin the Otter Box, I'm going to continue to shop for a bracket that will hold the OtterBox Defender case. Other than that, it seems like a decent bracket. But after reading about bikers who had their cell phones bouncing down the road when their brackets gave way, I think it's best to have the Otter Box first.

Get this one!
Stop looking around for the cheapest phone mount for your bike. Pony up and get this one and know that your phone will not fall off your bike. If you think your phone will be secure using some other mount that is held together by plastic... good luck to you. This mount has steel screws and mounts to hold it together and the phone is sandwiched snugly in a quick release mount that you would have a hard time pulling the phone out of with your hands, much less worry about it shaking free on a bumpy road. It fits my Droid Razor M like a glove, but I did take it out of its case so that it would fit best. I'm not worried that the phone is not in the case as there is no way this thing is coming off the bike.

The best you can buy
It weighs 121g. It holds the phone in place absolutely perfectly. I rode with this for many hours and jumped over many speed bumps at high speed. I even road on stone roads and on grass and it worked perfectly. It doesn't just press the phone from the sides. It also holds the glass screen in place. You might not have noticed this can be a problem with some phones if you were to use a different holder and you have a phone like Nokia Lumia 520 which is what I have or iPhone 5C. These phones have a similar design and they have a one piece plastic shell. I once dropped my Lumia 520 and the body (the glass and everything under it) separated from the plastic shell even though the phone was in a leather case at the time. The shell remained in the leather case but the body (the glass) came off. The leather case was poorly designed and didn't hold the glass in place at all. That problem doesn't exist here thanks to very good design.Fitting the holder to the bike was very easy for but if you find it tricky here is what to do: While the holder is in your hand, turn the screw on the clamp until the diameter is too big for your handlebar. Put the clamp on the bike and close it. Obviously now the clamp is very loose. Now turn the screw by hand until you can't turn it anymore. Open the clamp. Turn the screw a little more. Now close it again. This holder has a release button under it. I usually ride on towpath roads and stop every hour. The release button makes it very easy to take the phone out and put it back during these brakes. When you put in the phone and squeeze the side clips, they make this click click sound until they are tightly pressed. The reason why the sides can press so tightly is because, the sides have a 2mm cushion. As you press them the cushion makes it possible to go one more click. On the packaging it says it can hold any phone between 9-15mm high and 58-68mm wide.On youtube there are 4 videos about this product by the manufacturer. Search for "SmartPhoneHolder Takashi Minoura" and you should find them. This is the best holder you can buy. The design is perfect. Holds the phone very tightly and safely in place even if you ride on rough surfaces. I'm very happy with it and would highly recommend. The item is well packaged and is manufactured in Japan. The materials are good quality. All metal parts are made of aluminium. This product is very popular on the Amazon Germany and it has lots of positive reviews: http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00497A686/Update: Don't use this upside down with the bottom lip on top of the phone. The phone will gradually slip off. I was on a long ride and when I looked at my phone it was gone. No phone at all. I looked around and looked back and no phone. Imagine my surprise at that moment. The mount was empty. The sides were still pressed. The phone was there a minute ago.I rode back and luckily found it lying in mud. What happened was I attached the mount upside down. I know it sounds silly but I thought in an accident when you hit something objects try to move forward. So if I hit a car head on the phone might slip forward. Naturally I didn't hit any car (I never had such an accident in 25 years) but the phone slipped down and fell off. So don't do the same silly mistake.

IMO the best smartphone holder you can buy - strong, reliable and durable.
I have used 3 different smartphone holders in my time and this was the only one to survive. Robust, holds my phone strongly. I fully trust this however make sure you mount it at an angle so gravity keeps your phone in place somewhat. I have bought three of these and Minoura are my go-to smartphone holder maker.

Non oversize bars only
Fantastic build quality really holds the phone safely. Great clasp, but don't throw away the rubber band for extra security.

Bombenfest
