Thermite-high Yield (2 Ounces)

No, seriously. Do not do that. Do NOT use this to disperse hornets. You WILL destroy all the flora and fauna in the immediate area. Use this sparingly and very carefully, and for gods sake, don’t stare at it while it burns.

Used this as a backpacking / wet weather fire starter. Works great! But you'll need a solid 3-4 ounces of thermite to reliably start a camp fire with a log and no kindling. Otherwise you'll just get a really good smolder on your fire wood which you can then use to build a fire with more kindling (but way less fun). That's one of the great things about science, we learn more when we fail than when it goes right the first time!

They’re not kidding when they say it’s hard to use, if you manage to get it to work maybe use goggles. I didn’t that was dumb

Fabulous. How much would you need for approximately a 180 pound log that is roughly 5’9 and has 4 limbs?

Clearly an excellent mixture, but much too finely divided. Thermite is best rather coarse to be useful. This mixture could be great, but it is so fine that the reaction is almost explosive. This produces such a rapid expansion that most of the mixture is dispersed instead of continuing the reduction to liquid iron.I have made thermite myself, and when my mixtures were too fine I had similar results.As is, this mixture is only useful in containment, but that introduces other dangers. The formula is perfect, please offer it in a coarser mesh.
