Excellent reference for breeders
Well-written and logically presented. Fourth & latest edition updated 1999 so not inclusive of latest information on areas such as PCR/genetic sequencing and latest internet references but nevertheless a worthwhile "indulgence" at around £50+ for serious cat breeding professionals. It puts feline genetics into context; I would suggest that a basic general understanding of genetics (other than species specific) would be an advantage to anyone before reading this book to maximise its benefit. I definitely recommend it.

Detail heavy but interesting
Liked the detail of the subject covered, but found it heavy going. Interesting to me.

Genetics for cat breeders & veterinarians
As a relatively novice breeder of Norwegian forest cats, i wanted to find out more about genetics, how they effect colours, white proportions and of course health. I did do a little genetics as part of A level Biology, but that was many years ago.I found the book started at the begining, explaining how cells split etc, and guided you through the more complex issues of how Tabby/solid, and colours etc are passed on. It does not assume any prior knowledge, some things are repeated a few times, but in a positive way, as it helps to make things clear, and shows how some things have relevance in several areas.I would recomend this book to anyone wanted to find out a bit more (and in my opinion anyone breeding should at least understand the basics). It makes what could be a dry subject relavitively easy to understand. It may seem like a lot of pennies, but worth saving for (or putting on the Christmas list).

excellent for cat genetics
Although not the easiest text to get through, this seems to be one of the only decent books for cat genetics. You will need to re-read it several times for all of the complex information to sink in. I wish there were more books available like this and the price is somewhat exorbitant, but an excellent reference for breeders or those with an interest nonetheless.
