Very sharp
Old Timer did an incredible job with this knife! High quality products in the making of this knife. Looks good and feels good in my large hands. Some pocket knives I've bought in the past have been really small. Not this one, fits perfect. Slides in and out of my pocket easily. Came very sharp, which I've had to sharpen lesser quality knives as soon as I got them. Overall, great quality, nice sharp edge, highly polished! Great investment!

Great Skinning Knife
This is a really good skinning knife. Compact, sharp, effective. I did a lot of research before buying this knife and chose this knife because of the reviews and the specs and the Old Timer name and reputation. A lot of other knife reviews commented that the skinning blade was dull. Not this one. Came razor sharp. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted a single blade skinning knife or one that folds like this. I'm glad I chose this one. It has a regular blade, a skinning blade and a bone saw. Everything you need to skin your harvest on one knife. Highly recommend this knife.

great hunting knife
I realized that one almost always can use a small saw for gutting a deer in addition to a knife. The gut hook thing is optional. So I bought several different such knives. This one fits nicely in a pocket and seems rugged enough and is priced great. Only complaint is that it is made in some foreign country (like nearly everything else we buy these days). This one was in my pocket (my spare, new and never used) when my friend got his first deer, he didn't have a saw, so I gave him this knife. Which of course meant I had to buy another, so I ordered 2 more of these, I'll probably give those to new hunters too, and then order more.

Almost perfect. No locking mechanism :(
Love the knife, design, construction (although qc is 4/5 because of a tiiiny gap in the handle)Only reason Im giving 4 stars is theres no locking mechanism like a lockbackWill still keep this because I like it but I'll probably be getting the Browning even though its double the price

Does EXACTLY what it was designed to.
Stays razor sharp (once you sharpen it)Guthook works well, better than most. Not cheaply made but not a Case either (hence the price) I field dressed 2 deer with it this year and it worked better than the handfull of fixed blades I usually use for for the task.DRAWBACK- A real female dog to clean. Being a folder, chunks of flesh, fur and other parts get stuck in the inside and take forever to clean out.Worth the price indeed.

Great all around knife
Great pocket knife to keep with you. My husband loves this as he said he can skin deer with it and the gut hooks great.

It brought back many memories and it feels like the old one did
I had one of these when I was younger. For field work (hunting and fishing), it was ideal and I carried one for many years. I also carried it in the military until I was injured and all my gear was taken off at the field hospital. I really missed that knife. I got a used one later until that one too disappeared. SO, I bought this Schrade 690T Old Timer Trapper. It brought back many memories and it feels like the old one did. I oiled and honed the primary blade and I was pleased with the quality of the steel. While my field days are numbered, having a good field knife is important. I got the leather belt holder sheath and it fit well. And I really suggest the sheath to protect your investment.

Great value
I bought this for my son mainly as a hunting knife. He has a single blade knife he’s been using but needed a saw blade for fielding dressing deer. This knife is perfect as it has every blade needed for field dressing or skinning wild game.
