so far works great!
This scale is working great for weighing a sick peahen to calculate its medication. Very easy to use, and weight stays to be checked anytime until reset, which is handy.

good scale, quite accurate
This is a great scale. I just came back from my first fishing trip after I got it and it worked beautiful. I did test it in advance with known weights and it was quite accurate. You do have to be very careful though, since once you hook the fish with it, the scale is quite sensitive and the "pointer" moves very easily so you can be reading the wrong thing. After having a look at it you will know what I am talking about. It is a great scale, hence the 5-star rating.

Sturdy and a good option for measuring trigger pull weight. Probably just as good for fish.
I was looking for a mechanical gauge to measure trigger pull weights, and I didn't like the comments I read for the Lyman and Wheeler reviews. Compared to the Lyman and Wheeler mechanical trigger pull weight gauges, the Rapala is built much better (stainless steel, aluminum, and some plastic) and has good accuracy and precision. By straightening the hook to a right angle, filing down the sharp point, and adding electrical tape around the hook to approximate finger size, you can easily use this without the problems noted by reviewers of the Lyman and Wheeler gauges. The 0-15 lb capacity nicely covers the range for most triggers, and having no batteries is great. I used my 2.5, 5, 10, and 15 lb weights to roughly calibrate the Rapala gauge, and it was quite accurate. I don't have certified weights to confirm this, but I'm not looking for much better accuracy than I got. I then tried the Rapala on 3 of my guns with trigger pull weights claimed to be from 4.5-6.5 lbs. I got good repeatability for each trigger. Two of the triggers had pull weights that matched what the manufacturers stated. The other trigger that I always thought felt heavier than the 4.5-5 lbs claimed by the manufacturer came in consistently at 7 lbs, which was about where I had guessed it to be. I'm very pleased with the Rapala gauge so far, and I'll check how well it works over time because I'll be using it regularly.

Great for weighing babies
Bought this for my freebirth and used it with a ring sling to weigh our daughter. It did its job, and it's still useful for other things now that she's maxed it out. Great quality!

Use it to set tension on wheel hub
This is a handy device to have in your tool box if you work on cars/trucks. Replaced the bearings on my truck and the new bearings needed to be installed with just the right compression tension. You set the tension by tightening the axle compression nut so that as you pull the tube scale with the hook attached to a wheel stud, you pull and the wheel should start to turn at 4 to 5 lbs of tension. Too loose or too tight, you risk life of bearings, this made it very easy to set to the right tension, get one for your tool box. Works good if your out trout fishing also.

works 4 me
yep, i'm using this to measure trigger pulls on revolvers and semi-automatic weaponsscientific? accurate?close enough for government work if you ask merapala should market this as a trigger gauge - none of the over-priced gauges on the market go up to 15 lbs., which is the outside range for rimfire revolvers in double-actionsave yourself some money and get a relative idea of that trigger job using this tool instead of an overpriced digital, battery driven hunk'o'junk

Worth it!
It's a bit pricier than I would've liked & I wish it scaled higher in lbs but it's pretty accurate & works well.
