I find that it doesn't really track steps around the house when I am walking more lightly, and also doesn't track steps if you walk slowly or stop-start. I spent 2 hours gardening the other day and it still recorded zero at the end of it even though I'd been lugging heavy pots around etc. But for the price it is good. I like that it shows distance and calories burned too, and it is difficult to reset by accident because you have to press and hold the reset button for several seconds. The instructions which come with it are pretty basic and fairly useless so it was mainly trial and error doing the initial set-up. I particularly struggled to set my stride length because mine is shorter than the default length but you can only lengthen the default length. I threw it across the room in frustration before I realised that if you just keep going up and up, eventually the stride length will go back to zero and I could continue counting upwards until I got to the right length. Then press the SET button once. Then keep pressing RESET button until the hours are at the correct time. Then press SET button once. Then keep pressing RESET button until the minutes are at the correct time. Then press SET button once. It will then flash CM (or IN if you press REST button once). Press SET button once, now insert your stride length by pressing RESET button until you get correct length. The press SET button once.It will then flash KG, to enter your weight press RESET button until you reach correct weight. I find that by not registering the first 10 steps I miss out on a lot of steps throughout the day. Because of the nature of my job I rarely get 10 steps in before someone stops me and asks me something over and over. I can be out of my office for 15 mins walking around the factory and warehouse and I've only registered 100 odd steps, when in reality it's more like 500. Would much prefer this to be 5 steps before kicking in, would make it more reasonable. I also go for a walk most evenings with my 4 year old, lots of stopping and starting.
