Effective and affordable
I empty 2 capsules into my evening "smoothie" with psyllium husk. It seems to make a difference in my IBS symptoms.Update 01-15-2020: I have purchased it 3 times already, and it still works. I also doubled the dose recently, i.e. taking 2 in the morning and 2 at night. It became more pricey this way, but considering the huge improvements, it's worth every penny. This probiotic together with the DE111 strain of B. subtilis (e.g. from Dr. Tobias) was a game-changer for my IBS/leaky gut symptoms.Update 02-26-2021: One of my colleagues asked me a year ago, what will you do if the effect wears out... Well, more than a year has passed and this is still working like on the first day. Actually, I decreased the dose back to the suggested 2 capsules per day, which I take in the evening (with one DE111 capsule in the morning), and this keeps my bowels calm. When I forgot to take these for a few days, the IBS symptoms return, so I started to measure them out into a one-week pillbox to prevent any lapse in taking them. Yep, they are sooo essential.

Excellent Pre/Probiotic
I just recently understood you need pre and probiotic for a probiotic to work effectively. This supplement contains both at a good price. Very happy with it.

Maybe it's useful?
Hey-o. Vegan biohacker here. I'll try anything looking for an edge. I had a phenomenal experience with Dave Asprey's Homebiotic product for getting awful smells out of the textiles in my home, so I decided to try an oral probiotic.I didn't notice any great digestive relief, nor any great increase in the amounts of gas, just nothing. On the first day that it arrived, I tried it and noticed an increase in mental clarity right away, but that's what Triphala does anyway.I... am... feeling remarkably better this week than normal, but I currently have so many health projects in my life at the moment that I can't tell what's doing what. I'm shifting my supplement routine over to a bulk powder mix, so I'm probably getting more pomegranate extract than before (that's the newest ingredient). Also, I stopped eating beans for a couple months for whatever reason; I'm cycling back onto them now, so I'm extra gassy, but that's because I'm adjusting to eating beans again. Also I'm introducing sauna into my routine, and I'm back on my bike commute this month after a year's break. AND I just had the aforementioned victory over mold in my home textiles. After a week of using this product, I just listened to an episode on Dan Pardi's podcast ("humanOS Radio") where he interviews a researcher who did a study on combining Triphala and a probiotic to reduce measures of aging (or in other words, an increase in metabolic markers). Now, this was in fruit flies, and the researcher fed her flies a slightly inadequate diet to emphasize the effects of the treatment. (But, what if your diet was okay in the first place?) The researcher said that she discovered that Triphala was an effective prebiotic for the probiotic bacteria to ferment, which wasn't obvious to me when looking at this product. All that to say, I think there's probably something interesting here, but I don't know how much of this prebiotic benefit I already had from my fiber-rich diet, and I don't know whether my recent improvement in health is from this or something else.I plan to finish this bottle and not replace it. I only take capsules five days a week (I skip weekends), so this is actually a 12-week supply for me. Hopefully 12 weeks is enough for this probiotic to set up shop in my gut, and the fiber in my diet is enough to sustain this new bacterial population.

Dosage
I will be updating this every few months. Both my spouse and I have begun taking a Spore Probiotic.I have two brands we are using. I am on the Youtheory Brand. My spouse is on Microbiome Labs MegaSporeBiotic. We are bothwithin normal weight range with 10 lbs to lose each, to put us atIdeal weight within that same normal BMI.1: One of us is SIBO gut challenged. I had been on PPI on and off,and finally became compliant, to the point that small intestine bacterialovergrowth occurred. What my doctor viewed as successful dosing, inturn served me up a horrid gut imbalance. That, in under a year ofCompliance, so watch out if you are on PPI, the signs are bloating andoften a flip flop between constipation and diarrhea. It only seems milduntil it crosses the line to intolerable.2: The other of us is pre-diabetic, cholesterol, early kidney challenged. There are studies that note that B Subtilis may influence glucose transportersto benefit those who have challenges, as well as other spores whichInfluence cholesterol positively.Spore probiotic have a long lifecycle and slowly colonize the GI tract. They have a span of 3-4 weeks, compared to the 4-7 days of traditionalprobiotics. A traditional probiotic has a low survival rate in arriving, thus, more billions upon billions are required in dosage. Thus the smallerdosage of Spore Probiotics which are 3 billion per capsule, is actuallysuperior to the many more billions of the traditional probiotics. Thatsaid, smaller doses over time are the approach I am taking. There are so many studies and for a great reason, all the evidence ispointing to Spore Probiotics being beneficial.Spore probiotics, being hardier and able to survive the voyage through your gut, require a more watchful approach. As many manufactures of Spore Probiotics state, start out slow and workyour way up to a larger dose. This makes perfect sense. That of coursedoes not factor in age related issues, health challenges, SIBO, IBS etc.The last thing you want is to experience something (nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, un-wellness) if indeed a different approach could have been taken. So while die-off symptoms can be severe when they hit, working upslowly in dose can negate much of that hardship! That said, I forgot that rule of thumb and did the first week starting outa touch quicker than I should have, before switching over to an every otherday regimen halfway through the week. What hit was a touch of notfeeling quite well, and taking a break from activities to recover. The other person I simply started at 1 capsule, every third day, as I didnot want that person to experience any challenge. That person inturn, did well with the first week. Thus I kept to an every third day schedule for the first two weeks, prior to graduating to every other day for the next two weeks. At this dosage, the first month will not present the outcome ofregular use, but it will serve to ease us into this new probiotic withoutmuch of the side effects of die off.I will update this in a couple of months.
