Best corded trimmer on the market currently.
OVERALL Most corded-electric weed-trimmers look cheap and poorly made and lacking a powerful motor. Some research brought me to this one and I'm quite satisfied. I've owned this model for a couple of years now. It was so good I bought one for my dad as well. Small suburban life means the cord isn't really a problem, and it's simpler than heavy batteries that go bad over time. I have a 14 gauge 50' cable; but with this 10A you could probably go to 16 gauge wire and be fine so long as you kept it under 50'. This thing has PLENTY of power to rip through tall weeds and clean up edges. Big reason I got this was dual-feed + the highest amp. Should last a long time, though I mistakenly thought it was a true A/C motor, but they use a rectifier to convert A/C to D/C to a brushed DC motor. Not sure if this trimmer has a built-in over-current/thermal protection circuit, but haven't ran into any issues with moderate usage on 90-degree days. The actual trim wire used is pretty thin, so you do go through the cord pretty quickly, but it cuts effectively—especially with the dual feed. It doesn't have a variable-speed trigger so if you want to go slower than max RPM, you just need to keep tapping the trigger a certain frequency to achieve a slower desired RPM. No big deal. OTHER ATTACHMENTS Since buying this, I've purchased two separate attachments, the rotary tiller (used twice) and and the pole-saw attachment (These are Ryobi "Expand It" series attachments). Both worked very well and the motor had no shortage of power or bogging down (cutting 3" mesquite limbs). Tiller is geared very low so it doesn't turn super fast but so long as soil is relatively moist it will do the job. I wouldn't use these for heavy-duty work for a business or anything, but for light duty stuff around the house they've been great so far.

VERY HAPPY!
I ordered the 21142 (18"/10amp) model to replace an aging light-weight, single-line Toro trimmer that was just about burnt out. I wanted another electric trimmer, to avoid having to mess with gas and oil, but I also wanted a higher-powered model with the motor at the top end, to enable me to add third-party trim heads or other attachments. After watching some of the YouTube videos and reading both older and newer reviews, it was obvious that this trimmer has undergone numerous improvements, over time. With that in mind, I decided to purchase directly from Amazon (i.e. Ships from Amazon) to ensure sufficient inventory turnover, so I'd get one of the newer, improved models. (I bought mine in mid-April 2018. It arrived in a long, slim, printed BROWN cardboard container with no imagery). First impression ... this puppy is heavy and very robust! I am very impressed with the build quality. After assembly, I did a trial run to get myself acclimated to the feel and cut of a 2-line trimmer. I merely used my existing 100' 16-gauge extension cable. I wasn't running the unit continuously but in typical spurts around my lawn. The cable got only very slightly warm and the motor was running just fine, so I don't think I'll need a thicker cable for an average edging run, but I will monitor this during future trims. Time will tell, but I am very happy with my purchase. *** UPDATE 04/16/2018 *** Today, I used the trimmer to attack some weeds and long grass in the utility alley behind my house, as a longer test. I did behind my house, on either side of the driveway and for several houses on either side of me. It tore through everything, like butter, but my 100' 16/3 cable got barely warm. I will say the unit is heavy, so you really need to adjust the "assistant" (loop) handle for your height and balance. Being so powerful, it will take a bit of getting used to, but well worth it! *** UPDATE 04/22/18 *** After the supplied trim line run out, I decided to try the leftover .065 line for my old unit, just to save wasting it. The .065 line worked very well and did a great cut at high power. To assist me when edging, I put a piece of duct tape on the grass shield and simply line things up to the cement driveway, etc.

Powerful, Fast Trimmer but not for everyone
This is a good, very powerful trimmer. I love the power, shape, balance, and build quality, but there are some issues. 1. The safety trigger is very awkward. I know this is required by law, but the way it is implemented makes it very difficult to use especially when you are using the trimmer upside down to trim on the edge of a sidewalk. It would make my hand very tired. I believe in altering my tools to work for me the way I want so I solved this problem by disabling the safety switch so that now you just need to pull the trigger. This adjustment wasn't difficult but is not for everyone. 2. The trimming head is fairly painful to load with trimmer line and the feeding system is flawed. I updated the head with a professional universal echo speed feed head and it had vastly improved the head. 3. The trimmer is quite heavy and very powerful. This means it will not work as well for smaller individuals. The trimmer comes with a shoulder strap, but it was awkward to use especially while flipping the trimmer upside down for edging. For this reason, I removed the strap from the beginning. 4. Trimmer line breaks easily on this machine due to the speed and power. Purchase good quality line as thick as your trimmer head can support and you will have a better experience. 5. It is corded, which many will not like. The cord doesn't bother me though because it is so powerful and never runs out of power. I have tried multiple battery powered trimmers and none have matched this trimmers power and they won't finish my entire yard without charging. I know this sounds like there are many negatives, but this is outright, one of the most powerful electric trimmers you can buy and it is reasonably affordable. After the alterations I made, I love this trimmer and I am able to complete my yard quickly and professionally.

Great value. Lots of power and torque. A little heavy but strap helps. Great manual

La he usado 1 vez y quedé satisfecho.
