rough trade shops review
the re-issue of the legendary 2nd album on tapete records from the early 80s great german pop constructionists palais schaumburg, revered for their eclectic mix of minimalistic analog-electro sounds, weird speak singing and surreal-nihilist lyrics. 'lupa', the bands 2nd album, was recorded in 1982 and featured new lead singer and lyricist walter thielsch. this re-issue of the original album (previously unreleased on cd) comes with three bonus tracks and the original sleeve photos by anton corbijn. 22 years after it's original release 'lupa' still sounds fresh and vibrant today, having lost none of its urgency and avantgardist charm.

Mmmm - schmeckt gut !
An overlooked gem of an album from the early 80's. Maybe potential punters having read about it assume that they were something of a lesser band with the absence of Holger Hiller ? ( he's on the very different first album only ). Not so - the tunes are superbly quirky and Coati Mundi's production gives the whole thing space to breathe and a more sophisticated, lush edge without sounding too sickly - an inspired collaboration. So you don't speak the lingo ? No matter, you'll be humming the melodies in no time !

This album is a lot of fun.
I have another Palais Schaumberg album that more dissonant and atonal and also a very good album. However, I like this album on its own merits and continue to get into it with each listen. These guys are excellent musicians and they do some interesting things on this album however commercial they may sound on this disc. The album is upbeat and fun to listen to. If you like this try Kosmonautentraum- Livorno 1956 Ep if you can find that sucker good luck! The German New wave and punk of that time was very interesting to me.
