They are warm, and definitely stretchy, well made and have an extended knitted strap that goes under the heel, altho one doesn't have to wear them under the foot if one doesn't want to, the under the heel section could be tucked in around the ankle. These knitted warmers can be worn as ankle, ankle/calf or ankle to well over the knee leg warmers, they are simply awesome. I would highly recommend them. They are definitely worth the money and then some, for the coming winter. So happy with my purchase.
