I have a variety of sizes. From a 6 inch to 18 inches. I bought this one as a replacement for the one I bought 20 years ago which finally faded to the point that it was harder to use. I also had damaged the edges by using it with an x-acto knife. Don't do that. And my kid had snapped it in half, was back together with packing tape. But when you think about it, 20 years is a long long time for thin bit of plastic. This one is just as nice. I use it for crafts, and sewing, and scrapbooking, and all that stuff. It makes getting right angles and 45 degree angles a snap. I can make a set of parallel lines in no time. I can layout the lines for matt boards in no time. The centering bit on the center line is one of my favorite parts.
