I use it to parallel a Honda 3000 and a Predator 3500. Works great! **Q: What is meant by parallel?? Does this rely on another unit??** A: The banana receptacles on each generator simply supply the same floating 120VAC that is on the AC outlets. The banana circuit is just a direct connection to the neutral and hot on the AC outlets, but presented in a different type of connector. The parallel kit box is just a straight parallel connection of the banana cords to each other and the box outlets. The inverter electronics are computer controlled, and when you parallel two outputs with the banana cords, each inverter adjusts and maintains its AC frequency and phase in sync with the other inverter, they "cooperate" (automatically harmonize the frequency and phase, and monitor and adjust output voltage to share the current load equally) to produce 120VAC but with the sum of the available current. This syncing that allows paralleling is only possible because of the computer-controlled intelligent inverter electronics, and wouldn't be possible with ordinary mechanical generators. Banana plugs are used instead of AC outlets to avoid having the parallel kit being an idiotic "suicide cord" with two AC plugs, which would work as a parallel function, but expose the voltage on one disconnected plug. The banana plugs and receptacles have no exposed conductors. However they're still hazardous and would never pass NEC or UL standards scrutiny. But portable generators (like appliances) don't have to follow any codes or standards, so the whole setup is more hazardous than normal residential wiring. The floating ground is problematic, but at least the same design as RVs. If you feed house wiring from a generator, you have to tie the grounds to avoid hazards; depending on plugs alone for supply grounding is not reliable. **Q: Will this work for any generator? I have two Cummins onan p4500i generator's** A: If your generators have the parallel hookups then yes. But if it doesn’t then no. This one has a 30-50 amp connections so your good if you have the parallel hookups **Q: Would this work for a 7kw running wat and a 5kw Running watt tied together ?** A: These parallel kits are for inverter generators. The voltage between the two will stabilize but most important, the frequency/hertz (60) will marry and give you a clean sign wave. A contractor generator will not work. It will damage the inverter generator and your electronics you are powering.
