I’d say medium. I have the small and I’m a UK 10 and it fits perfectly.

Does the material dry you?

Yes it does. purchased it because I am disabled and drying myself was a problem. Works fine.

Is the hood a generous size?

Fits me ok, I don't have a particularly large head but it is an ample size
