Export Compliance for Beginners

Very basic info
This book has a few helpful tips and bits of information (extremely basic info), but it mainly warns you that export/import laws are strict and to be careful. It more so advises on best practices, for example: to document everything, never assume you know what something is, just accept that things are confusing, etc. And none of the helpful pieces were things I couldn't find out online anyways. The book is very repetitive. There are not a lot of specific examples or explanations. I was looking for a basic overview of the regulations, sort of like a simple guide. If you are looking to learn more about the EAR/ITAR specifically, I would not recommend this book.

Four Stars
This is a beginner's introduction. If a company exports, they must take compliance seriously and seek further training.

I read this book without any prior knowledge of exporting. I was amazed at what you need to be aware of and pay heed to. Aralyn Kraft has taken a topic which is fraught with peril, and the potential for mistakes (most with serious repercussion) and provides guidance, and procedure to minimize that potential. This book may not keep someone from making a mistake, it will most certainly provide the guidance to greatly reduce the chances. It does so in clear and simple language with explanation and links to relevant information.I would recommend reading this if you’re starting out in this field, or even studying it in school. It’s very informative, and it accomplishes this without being preach or vague.
