I have purchased several of these handy super stuffers and use them every day. It is so useful to push everything into the disposal with ease. I wash it in the dishwasher. Over time, it does get stained and I have to replace. You can't beat it for the price and keeps me from pushing everything down with my hand.

I really needed a new garbage disposal stuffer. My old one was wooden and had worn out a couple years ago. Since then, I've just been trying to push food waste down the garbage disposal with a rubber spatula. I got a little more than I bargained for with this Norpro Super Stuffer though. It measures 3 l/2" wide at the big circular knob on the top and is 5 l/2" long. My garbage disposal opening is only 3 l/8" wide. The part that pushes the food down into the garbage disposal fits fine in this opening, but the knob sticks up into the sink 1 3/4". Supposedly, it is designed to sit above sink level so that it can prevent silverware from slipping down into the disposal. That would not be an issue in my house since I do not have young children around and do not put dishes in that part of the sink. This leaves a big, unattractive looking, bulky plug sticking out of my garbage disposal. Unfortunately, there really were few other options...all of which were huge. For years I had an attractive plunger on a wooden handle that really allowed you to push things far into the disposal. This one barely pushes the food under the rubber splash guard. Apparently garbage disposal openings are different sizes. If you have one of the larger garbage disposals, this gadget could be pushed further down into the disposal opening. I think there is a definite need for these gadgets to be made in different sizes, as well as different colors. I recommend carefully measuring your disposal opening before ordering, so that you know how it is going to fit into your sink.

I don’t know how people can function without this. It keeps spoons, jewelry and other valuable things (like fingers) from falling into the jaws of the disposer. Small bits of food slip down and larger things can be shoved with the shaft. Mine was lost in my recent move, but Amazon to the rescue!
