Vivitar Series 1 3-Piece Multi-Coated HD Pro Filter Set (52mm UV/CPL/ND8)

These were so cheap and handy I got them for my 40-shorty Canon pancake, and they work well. The ND is a 3 stop ND which I appreciate very much as it lets me take better portraits in daylight with blurred backgrounds, and is superior to using a vari-ND which (because it uses polarization) gives skin a matte look. But unfortunately upon further review this ND8 is extremely purple colored, I had to plusgreen to the extent of my WB shift to get anything resembling correct color. So I have updated my review to reflect this.The wallet is chintzy but better than nothing, there is a spare pocket for another filter or step-up ring. The filters are stackable, the C-pol spins with nice damping. The "multi-coated UV" doesn't look as good to my eye as my B&W which lives on the lens (and cost 3x this whole kit price) but I am happy to have this as a backup when needed (or when I am in a lens-hostile environment). When you need filters these are better than no filter, but no filter is better than these when you don't. Smile for the camera.

Pros:Nice filters at a very good price. Containt each of the key filters needed. I have been using these for about a year now and am very happy. I have used these for a variety of conditions such as shooting in extremely bright light and scenes with glare, at and through water, directly into sunsets, sunsets over water, etc. The use of a filter or in some cases multiple filters have allowed me to transform the shot and in some cases take shots that would not have been possible with a filter.Cons:My only complaint is the filters could be more clearly labeled. When in a hurry to put on or switch filters it would be better if they had more distinct markings.I would buy this product again.

The UV and CPL filters were pretty good. Didn't notice a drop in image sharpness. The filters were pretty dirty when I got them. I like my polaroid filters more though. The ND8 is horrible though. It will cast a very visible red'ish tint on all the images and extremely hard to get rid off. Wouldn't recommend using the ND8 filter even for casual shooters.

Great value for the money. The optical quality seems perfectly adequate & the case protects the 3 filters plus space for a fourth although I would recommend wrapping each filter in a microfiber lens cloth for added protection against scratching.

Just a quick note.. the filters come in a small case, pockets for 4 filters. Nothing cheap about them, great compact package for a starter filter set, protect your high dollar lens with a UV filter, polarizer ( adjustable) and a third filter, neutral density filter that allows you to take pictures using alternate f stop in really bright light. You can't go wrong on price, super service from vendor, free shipping. Highly recommend.

I had bought these for myself when I bought my new digital camera and have enjoyed them. So when my daughter bought a new digital camera, it was an easy choice as to what to buy her. As I had reviewed these filters before, these are a must for any camera bag and they are easy to use in combination (UV + CPL or UV + ND8).

Vivitar lenses came a bit dirty. Happy with purchase over all, but lenses could be better.

Good quality for the price. You could easily pay three times as much on filters, but these are working fine for me.
