BFMV - Gravity Rush to the head !!
This Album is an absolute gem , it's got it all , Do not be taken a back with some negative reviews , or comparisons on this Album . From start to finish BFMV have IMO struck absolute Gold with Gravity . If I could give a 10 star review , I'd still be looking for another 5 to add on , It's just that Good !!! Coming from a rock/metal musician's perspective (that's me :) , It's really a joy to listen to , it's still BFMV with a wider approach . I'm not going to carry on with intricate details on what this album is made of , Get it and immerse your head into a gravity rush !!

Don't believe the negativity.
When I found out that Bullet For My Valentine were releasing a new album, I was looking forward to it. Especially as the predecessor, Venom, was an excellent album. After hearing the first track released off it, Don't Need You, it was evident that whilst still a heavy track, it was a slightly new direction for the band. The following song, Over It, again showed the difference in direction, whilst still being a great song. The reaction to this album, has been fairly negative, but don't let that put you off buying this album. I've listened to this album countless times since it arrived on release day. Some tracks were instantly catchy from the start, the excellent opener, Leap Of Faith, for example. The songs that I've mentioned above can be added to that, as well as the excellent closing track, Crawling. For me personally, the band have hit the nail on the head with their new direction, the riffs are still there, whilst the addition of some electronics/keyboards add depth to it.Some songs are a complete new direction away from the Bullet sound that we all know. The title track, Gravity and Coma, took a while for me to get in to, but are now some of my favourites from the album. Breathe Underwater, is another, the lyrics in this song come across as deeply personal and credit to the band as the lyrics are much better on this album than previous ones.To quickly sum up, a new direction that will surprise some, but in my eyes a successful one. Some stand out tracks immediately whilst others take a listen or two, to get in to them. As I've mentioned above, don't believe the negativity surrounding Gravity, if you're a fan of Bullet, you'll like this album.

For the Grown Ups
Outstanding record, no doubt different from their previous work, but really good. Pay no attention to the 1 star reviews, probably teenagers or grown men or women wishing they were teenagers. Put it this way, BFMV has been around for 13 years, and if you have grown up listening to them, and I mean actually grown up you would learn to appreciate a little variety/change in their music, they are not the first band to do it and certainly won’t be the last. Simply knocking a record because there wasn't enough screaming and shouting in every track is just ridiculous and utter nonsense. I'm sure it got attention when younger, but maybe it's time to grow up.Then people seem to have a problem with the lyrics even though it's a well known fact the lead singer stated countless times that this album would be personal. For those who don't know, he recently went through a divorce. So I'm curious, what exactly did they expect him to sing about, the weather, politics, food??? I mean seriously?!Lastly, people moan about no guitar solos, to which I say fair point and that's understandable. This change wasn't something that just crept up on you, the band made this fact very clear since the get go, so we all knew what to expect, well the actual fans at least. Hardly shocking news like people are making it out to be. All that being said, still giving it a 1 star is just unreasonable. It's a great album like a said, good variety of tracks, everything from mellow to heavy, some of their best work in my opinion.

Since when has "Linkin Park" become an insult?
A bit late to the club. Yes it may not sound quite like Scream Aim Fire. Yes a few bits do remind me of Linkin Park. So what, I like Linkin Park very much anyway. Check the youtube comments under the video of Not Dead Yet and I wonder how many of these people moaning about "too soft" or "whoa oa oa" didn't bother much to listen to the lyrics and get the message of the song first. A band that writes a passionate stadium-filling anthem like this deserves applause. The Very Last Time and Breathing Underwater are also very enjoyable surprises for me. I don't want a genre battle so here is no war with BFMV. I appreciate the effort and think the new stuff works well.

Good but not spectacular.
Its all very good. But nothing spectacular. Its not even as catchy as Venom and a far cry from Scream Aim Fire, Fever and the Poison. The new direction is good and the electronics go well with the style and are not too oppressive and there is nothing on the album to actively dislike in my opinion. However, I get the feeling that having less original members may be at the cause the seeming loss of magic. Plenty of bands have one dominant figure for writing, arranging etc. like BFMV do in Matt Tuck but for some reason, a particular lineup is what some bands need to really spark and when original members fall this spark fades. I fear this is where BFMV are headed. The drumming in particular is a good example of this: all very good but that magic that Moose brought to the table is sadly lacking on Gravity.Whatever the cause of this dip I will remain loyal to BFMV until the end and just hope they can rediscover some of their earlier greatness.

Different? Sure. Good Music? Definitely.
I think a lot of people think Bullet should sound a certain way which is why this album has been given negative reviews. If you like good music and meaningful lyrics then you'll love it. Sure, it's different to their usual stuff but that's called musical progression. They can't sound the same forever! A lot of the songs on this album deal with losing someone or leaving someone, given Matt Tucks recent life events I think it was a great decision by the band so he could vent out his frustration and emotion through song which he has done very well. I think the negative reviews are narrow minded, I don't think it's fair to assume Bullet should sound a certain way and despite it being a different sound to what you usually hear, they aced it. 5/5.
