Birdsong for Johnny Depp: Poems & Parleys for an American Original & His Relatives

A Treasured Collection I Found Quite By Accident One Day
Pleasant Meadow loves to use words in interesting ways, twisting and turning them so creatively, so cleverly. Little surprises in her poetry come unexpectedly and delight the reader. If you know a little something about Johnny Depp, you will notice subtle references that will make you smile. I hope there will be a Volume II someday. My copy of this book is on my shelf where I see it every day. I would never want to be without it. Marlon Brando, a beloved friend of Mr. Depp, once said, "Life- it's a bird song." That little saying meant a great deal to Johnny Depp. He even added it to his dialogue in his movie, "The Professor." I think it makes an apt choice for this book's title.

Lovely, thoughtful, & unusual tribute to Johnny Depp & his "relatives" (fans)!
Highly recommend!Well, I certainly didn't expect to find a book of free verse (not formal form) poems & short prose about Johnny Depp! It does fit with his work and what he has said in interviews, though, about loving art of all kinds, including literature. It fits that someone would write such an unusual book about him. Meadow seems to have done her homework on Depp's life and career. Avoiding controversies and sensational headlines, she focuses on what makes him interesting as an artist -- his childhood and unusual entry into acting, then on his career and his relationship with his fans (he calls them his "relatives" -- hence, that word in the subtitle).Meadow mentions she may write more of these books. I hope she does! I enjoyed this one. Highly recommend, especially to people who appreciate Depp's work. I think they will enjoy, as I did, discovering the word play, cues, and references to his many characters, interviews, etc. that are woven into these accessible poems.
