The skimmer net is functional and there is nothing “bad” about it. I am going to buy a different however. My issues are the net is not as fine as I was hoping, it bends (and stays bent) to easy when skimming the water. The last issue is my fault, and that is that it does have a separate release button (from the pole). This was on me as I did not look closely when ordering.

This pool skimmer doesn't look "heavy duty", but it's good enough since it's so inexpensive.. Last year I'd spent twice as much for a skimmer and it broke after one summer.
