This thing is super amazing! Has all kind of built-in software. Not only is it the top of the line bi-directional scan tool, it is also a tablet so once connected to the internet, you can then click on codes which will then automatically Google. Search it and pull up a YouTube video if you’d like for repairs which is really cool too because then you can sync your business email to it. That way all my work emails related to car work come to this tablet thing so I can check work emails while fixing a car and putting my Subaru into diagnostic mode or service mode or fixing brakes or whatever way more than I thought it was going to be. I wasn’t expecting it to be a mini laptop computer. It feels really solid and really rugged. It’s just a beautiful machine.

My husband is our family’s home garage mechanic, meaning when something goes wrong with a car in our family, we go straight to him for a solution. He has friends who actually repair cars for a living and has sometimes borrowed their commercial scanner to diagnose our vehicles at home. When I saw this scanner, I figured I’d order it so he would have one in our garage at all times and eliminate the need to have to borrow one. He says that this one is not as high tech as the one he is used to borrowing, but for our needs it is perfect! It can diagnose most basic errors, eliminating the need for a lot of little trial and error repairs, it was a great value for an at home mechanic and he loves that it offers free lifetime updates. If you are familiar with these scanning tools, you will have no problems using this one. Setup and use are both pretty standard.

What you get out of the box is a basic tablet-style OBDII scanner that can read and erase engine codes. It also has other basic functions like battery voltage check and monitor readiness check. There’s another function where you can enter a trouble code and it goes online to give you the description.What you don’t get is full functionality unless you pay for it which I highly recommend! I went to the mall button on the device and purchased GM for a year for $40. With this service you can tap into all the modules, view PIDS and activate/deactivate specific components. You can also purchase a wide variety of engine specific applications like misfire reader, relative compression etc… You also cannot program keys with this scanner which was a real bummer.Before doing anything you have to connect it to your Wifi. The speed is rather on the slow side compared to other higher end scanners I’ve used in the past. The Wifi connectivity is rather weak and have to keep restarting the device to reconnect. This could also be from the distance to the router.I think for the price point you get a pretty decent scanner with a lot of potential if you’re willing to pay for the full service for your vehicle. The value is definitely there for what it offers. I would recommend this product.

OMG these Launch scanners are going to put Snap-on out of business!!! It has a very easy to use interface and has more functions than I will ever need! The Launch customer support is insanely good and helpful and if you are connected to WIFI you can talk to them Directly from the tablet in Chat. You can not find a better scanner for 4 times the price! after this scanner and the last one I got, also Launch brand) I will never buy another brand of scan tool again! these guys put a lot of time and dedication to being proud of the product they make and are constantly updating their systems to make their scanner worth every penny of your purchase! I love it! Gets my highest recommendation as a mobile mechanic!
