Deaf Representation!
As a CODA, I throughly enjoyed seeing the masterful way that Marlee was able to depict the experience of a young deaf person living in a hearing world as well as the journey of the family and friends who learn how to grow and be a part of the Deaf community.

Megan's indomitable spirit a light-hearted introduction to deaf culture for lower reading levels
Great book, character development, light hearted, easy to read, perfect for my daughter . . . and the third in the series (Leading Ladies) is even better! Marlee's writing only gets more compelling and the book gets harder and harder to put down. I love how engaging Megan is and with such an indomitable spirit, moreso than her "signing disabled" classmates (no offense intended). I've started my hearing daughter down the path of learning sign language and deaf culture and given her age and reading ability, this light-hearted book series fits a niche I was looking for. Some other books I'm having her read as she gets older: "A Loss for Words," "Finding Zoe," "Inside Deaf Culture" (very rich in content, although a much heavier academic read). Thanks Marlee!

Good book
I used this book for a Deaf Literature community service project, and I was really surprised at how well it went over! I donated the book to a local 7th grade classroom (where the teacher, a friend of mine, will be having the class read it together!) and I put together a presentation on Deaf culture as portrayed in the book. The kids were actually really interested in it!

Awesome read
Even though the ending wasn't at all what I expected I enjoyed the book. It gave an inside look on deaf culture and the hearing world. Ann's hire sometimes it can be hard living in both.

My daughter loved this book
My daughter loved this book! We read it together. She has hearing aids and struggles with issues related to her situation. This was a great book to help her help and overcome her friendship troubles.
