Versatile Wet Palette, But Not Ideal for Acrylics
This Stay Wet Palette is a well-made set that offers plenty of utility for artistic endeavors, especially for those working with watercolors or gouache. The high-quality hard plastic construction gives it a sturdy, durable feel, and it comes with several supplementary items that enhance its functionality as a paint caddy. The product photos and descriptions provided on the product page are accurate, reflecting the actual item received, which is always appreciated. However, I initially assumed the tray would be made of silicone, given its reputation for being easy to clean when working with acrylic paints. This assumption, however, was my mistake, as the product clearly states it is made of hard plastic. While the hard plastic is well-suited for water-based paints like watercolors and gouache, it is not the most practical option for acrylic paints, which tend to stick and are harder to clean off such surfaces. For strictly acrylic work, I would recommend seeking a palette with a silicone compartment tray for easier maintenance. That said, if you’re looking for a versatile, sturdy palette for various mediums other than acrylics, this one should meet your needs nicely. Just be mindful of the cleaning challenges if you primarily work with acrylics.

Bad description, great product
I had a *very* hard time comprehending exactly what I was looking at based on the description given. Having now gotten to look it over, hopefully I can explain it for other 'advanced beginners' like me that don't necessarily know all the lingo yet.Essentially - the lid and top tray, what they call 'dry pallets', are for media like watercolors. The top tray has deep wells (around an open middle section for brush storage) suitable for filling like pans, or mixing large amounts of favorite colors. The lid has very shallow wells, for immediate color mixing. I especially appreciate the fact that they are multiple different sizes. The bottom and the lid have shallow 'bumps' (palette wells on the lid, or cute little fish on the bottom) to put water in to soak the two 'mousepad'-like sponges, on which you can put the provided papers, to mix media that dries out easily, like acrylics. This can provide you significantly more time to work with them before they dry out - and the papers, of course, are disposable, so you don't have to worry about harsh solvents to clean them if the paints -do- dry out between painting sessions. All in all, a *very* nice little palette for artists who work with multiple media types. The thoughtfulness that went into the design is obvious.

Larger than expected
At 9" x 6 5/8" it's a bit larger than the common wet palettes from other manufacturers. This is nice, as it gives you more real estate for blending as well as lets each individual sheet last longer before running out of space. The downside is that it may be more difficult to find replacement thin sponges and hydro sheets that are the same size once you run out, but with 2 sponges and 50 sheets you'll have a bit of time before you get to that point. The middle plastic divider having dry storage space for brushes is nice, but if you want the entire kit to take up less space you can just attach the top lid directly to the bottom tray. You'll obviously need to get a tighter strap (or double loop the included one) to keep the lid attached if you do this.Ultimately its a solid option that could be useful either to someone who is starting out with their first wet palette, or someone who has experience using one but wants one that is bigger than most others on the market.

Useful palette
I use this palette for my gel nail colors to mix as needed. The size is large but manageable with different surfaces to mix on. In the case of the gel, it did stain the surface a bit, but that is not necessarily an issue. Brushes can be stored depending on their size, which is a nice feature. It may be more palette than needed for my purpose but still useful. The brush rest is nice as well and holds a large number of brushes.

A decent palette that’s does the job
This palette works properly and is a real plus for keeping my gouache paint in good shape for painting sessions that may extend over a few days or a week. The sponge is the good quality type that holds a lot of water, but releases it at a very gentle and controllable rate into the palette paper. The lid connections all fit well and the band is sized right to keep things from getting knocked loose. The palette is just a little bit larger that’s would be ideal for my uses, but that is just as likely to be a positive for another user. I think it’s a good value as a palette and when you factor in the additional lifespan you get from your paints, then it becomes an extremely good value. I’m pleased with this and it will see a lot of use.
