The hinge is butter smooth. The metal is very pleasing to touch and good to look at. It’s also easy to wipe clean. I use in conjunction with Derby professional half-blades. They fit perfectly. I now use this for every shave along with jojoba oil to lubricate my face and alum blocks for after the shave is complete. It was scary to use a shavette at first, but as other reviewers have said, I watched YouTube videos. I also found it very helpful to practice the motions of shaving using the shavette without a blade. This kinda helped commit the strokes to muscle memory. I’m now very comfortable using this and will never go back to cartridge razors. I highly recommend this product. Cheap, yet high quality.

Excellent blade

Bought for £1.99 with free postage (less than the cost of one Gillette Proshield cartridge). Looking to progress eventually from a Merkur 933cl travel safety razor to a proper hollow ground straight cut throat razor, but saw this Candure shavette on Aamazon.co.uk and thought that I would give it a go in the interim as a travel straight razor without the need for stropping and sharpening. Although I have no previous experience of other examples of this type of razor using half a safety razor blade, this appears to be of good quality stainless steel and holds the blade securely; inserting and removing blades requires a bit of practice. Using with Feather Hi-Stainless platinum coated blades for an excellent shave.

Nice razor, works well. Nice quality feel to it and looks good. I've used it for a while now and cannot fault it. 5⭐

Bought to give it a go instead of going barbers and not too bad is well made and does come with a few blades would recommend getting another box though
