ALTRA Escalante Racer 2 Men's Running Shoes - SS25

Comfortable and lightweight, and they have good ventilation and dry quickly. They are zero drop and have a wide toe box. I'm transitioning to barefoot shoes and these are ideal for longer road runs. I've done a half marathon in them with no issues. Can't say how long they'll last but I've done 45 miles so far and can't see any wear yet. There was a good review on runrepeat and I couldn't find the normal Escalante in my size, so got these instead, and I think they might be better.

So far so good, the mesh keeps your feet fresh but if think of using them in rain you will end up with wet feet. Otherwise, enough room in toe box

Good but expensive really, without a real reason why!

Found these to be longer than my Altra Olympus- and therefore had to send back- great on width, but too long- I am going to try a size 10.5 instead. Tried the 10.5 but still too long : (

I've been working my way through zero drop -> barefoot style trainers. Altra come highly recommended amongst zero-drop, minimalist enthusiast...however if you're after them for their claim to have a wide foot shape, I'd give them a miss!! The Escalante Racer 2 are extremely lightweight, with a low stack height. The upper feels quite hard and has a visibly open knit to it. Great for someone with hot feet, not so good if you want to keep your feet warm!! I found them very narrow in the midfoot and the toe box wasn't wide enough either (UK size 9, 11cm wide feet!).

Une fois la chaussure enfilée, on se demande pourquoi il subsiste un tel espace à l'arrière et sur les cotés du talon... une espèce de vide sanitaire qu'on ne retrouve pas sur L'escalante 4 et dont on se demande à quoi il peut bien servir !?

Zero drop runners which keep your posture totally aligned. Very comfortable with a firm ground feel. Not squishy. Provide superior support for my high arches. St the same time, these runners help strengthen your arch & intrinsic foot muscles over time. Snug fit to keep your foot in place & not move around. Highly recommend if you want natural foot movements & keep your spine completely straight.

Quando aggiornano delle scarpe da running con cui mi sono trovato benissimo, ho sempre il timore di aggiornamenti che stravolgono la bontà della versione precedente. Timore infondato stavolta. In più, trovate ad un prezzo molto interessante su amazon (105€, quando altra le vende a 140€)

My favorites. As a barefoot running enthusiast, I love the zero drop & wide toe box and just a little bit of cushion. These are one of the few Altra models that have this wide of a toe box. The regular escalantes are much more narrow. I use these primarily on my treadmill but also on the road… I do have to replace the insole after a few months to get these to last a little longer however. (I run 100-130 miles a month) Wish they were a little more durable, but I get that’s not what they’re designed for. Other than that, the upper and fabric are great. Breathable. Durable against wear and tear. Cute colors. Lightweight.
