Sliced Bread, Pockets on a Shirt, and Now…Thermacell
Add Thermacell to the list of handiest little inventions on Earth. These things do actually work. You will need the butane refills, and the replacement repellent mats. A mat will last about 4 hours. I usually can get about two turkey hunts out of each mat in the spring (since I only turn it on when I am sitting down). The butane cartridge will last around 12 hours. These things are indispensable for spring turkey hunting, and deer don’t seem to notice them, so they would be good for fall archery as well. My wife discovered mine last year, and it gets a considerable bit of use on the back porch. Last year while at friend’s home in Florida, they almost were ready to cancel a backyard crawfish boil due to the severity of the mosquitos, but I broke this thing out and all was well. Although, we were huddled pretty closely till my buddy got back from a special Wal-Mart trip with a couple more Thermacells. Each unit will protect an area about the size of a small round patio table (or an average ground blind for the hunters).Keep in mind, these need to lay flat while in operation, and they do produce a little heat. So if you are considering the holster (additional purchase), just realize you can’t operate it while it is clipped to you. I don’t use the holster myself, as the unit fits in a shirt pocket and I just lay it beside me during use. These things are great for most outdoor activities – hunting, fishing, cookouts, on the tractor, etc.; but as mentioned you can’t really place it on your person while it is on – so probably not good for active sports (e.g. tennis, running, underwater basket weaving, etc.). In summation, I highly recommend Thermacell to anyone who goes outdoors, exhales CO2, and dislikes mosquito bites.THANKSThanks for reading my review.

This will get rid of the mosquito's !!
I bought this on June 6th after going coyote hunting here in South Carolina the day before and the mosquito's absolutely ran me off even though I had used a spray. I could not handle all of them. I am 68 years old and a Vietnam veteran where there was the most mosquito's I had ever seen, they were worse when I went hunting. I came home and just googled the best solution. I read great reviews on the Thermacell but I was sceptical to say the least. I went back today to the same spot and just like the last time, the mosquito's were unreal. I fired up the Thermacell and waited. They were relentless, it was unreal. There was no wind blowing and I had layed it down at my feet and was waiting, they were still relentless. I was about to leave after almost ten minutes but I noticed they were only a few left. I was amazed. I remained there for over two hours and it was like someone had turned off the mosquito's. After the first ten minutes, they were gone. I will not go back without it. The only thing I will do different, I will fire it up as I am walking to my spot so it will be going good when I get there.

Amazingly effective.
I was skeptical that this thing would work even half as well as advertised.Happily, it worked perfectly. And believe me; I gave it a true test. Summer in Minnesota. Friends over for an outside dinner in the backyard. Little wind on a hot, muggy, evening and we were out for hours. I lit this and put it under the table. No mosquitoes! Everyone there was a Midwesterner and is very used to slathering themselves with bug spray, lighting citronella candles, etc and still getting bit. I asked them not to spray themselves down (at least initially) and I didn't light up any candles or torches. My friends were not psyched to be guinea pigs on this one but as I was supplying all the food and beer, they acquiesced. We were all impressed with the bug free zone this created. A few even tested it by walking away from the area and were swarmed almost immediately.Of course, each of the pads only lasts 4 hours max (and maybe more like 3 hours in my experience) but that is a small price to pay for bug protection this amazingly effective.I can't wait to try it out fishing or early season hunting.

Awesome Product
I live in the northwoods of Wisconsin, known for biplane sized mosquitoes that are everywhere, and just keep coming. Last summer it was dry and hot, and the mosquito population was down quite a bit... This summer was the exact opposite.I've used this ThermaCELL product while hunting turkey in late spring and plan on using it in late summer/early fall, and we've used it all summer on our deck or whenever my wife and I are outside... No mosquitoes at all, ever. The cartridges seem to last for a decent amount of time, and the blue pad inserts seem to last quite awhile also, even though I've never timed it out. We took it to our neighbor's house for a cookout, and they even commented on how well it works. I suggest getting the holster for it, as it adds a clip to the back, and I clip it to the back of my pack when I'm hunting or hiking in the woods, and turn it on before I leave the truck, and it works very well all day.Because of this product, I've suffered maybe two or three bites all spring and summer so far.

Works!
First and foremost, it works. It won't keep everything away, the strips won't last a full 4 hours, and the effective radius is much smaller than advertised. But it does work. I was Dove hunting last weekend and it was 90+ degrees and bugs were out in full force. I was getting bitten and stung by all kinds of bugs and bees. Honestly, I got stung by a sweat bee within the first 5 minutes of setting up. I don't think I even had my chair set up before I got stung the first time. Once I got this thing going I didn't get bitten or stung again. Bugs would fly close, but nothing would land on me. I had it pretty close to me so I imagine the giant radius they claim is grossly exaggerated. However, it works. It's great for one or two people hunting very close such as in a blind, but probably not for a full patio of people in the backyard.
