Size:B3-005A / 10 Plate  |  Style:1/4" Female 304 stainless steel has good general corrosion resistance to a range of organic and in-organic fluids. It will have poor resistance to sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. Crevice corrosion may also occur when chlorides (salts) are present in the fluid. Since chlorides are in all natural sources of water it is best to use distilled water whenever possible. Typically, a unit will last about 10-15 years with regular Tap water depending on salt content. With water containing chlorides or salt water, the life expectancy of the heat exchanger is reduced to about 3-5 years of continuous use, depending on the quality of the water. It is best to clean the units by back flushing with fresh water If highly contaminated fluids are used.

Well worth the money
First of all, I want to give a shoutout to Duda Diesel (the supplier of this item) because they are wonderful to work with. They initially sent the wrong item by accident, but shipped out a replacement by priority mail so it would get delivered Saturday just in time for my birthday brew session. For the item itself, it will cool your wort as quickly as it can flow. It's truly amazing to me that boiling liquid can travel 10 inches at a fast rate and come out the other side 70F, but it just works. I have only used it once so far, but it taught me a few things:1. Just once was enough to convince me that I needed a pump to make things easier, so I have since purchased a Chugger Stainless Steel Brewing Pump Center Inlet (Comparable to March 809-SS-HS-C) . I'm looking forward to the next brew day with this item. Gravity feeding may work for most, but I have a cheap stainless conical that is quite tall, which means that I had to lift a pot full of nearly 6 gallons of boiling hot wort up above my head on to an unsteady surface to get it to cascade down out of the pot, through the chiller, and down again in to the fermenter. Never again.2. For cleaning: In the absence of a pump, get a sink or hose adapter barb adapter so you can hook up your tubing to some good water pressure. Blast it through the in port first, then connect it to the out port and blast it again, and repeat as necessary. After you are done, drain it as well as you can and bake it in the oven at 300 or so for an hour to dry it out. For one, this will char any sludge left in it, and for another it will dry it out completely so it won't get musty inside.3. If you are going to get silicone tubing (my preference over thermoplastic), then be sure to get the thicker walled stuff. Yes, it's $10 more expensive, but the thin walled stuff just collapses in on itself and kinks. Very frustrating. White Silicone Rubber Tubing, Food Grade 4. This will only cool your wort to the temperature of the counterflowing water. So, if you have very warm water, consider a cheap immersion chiller that you can stick in a bucket of ice to pre-chill the hose water before it enters this chiller. All that said, I'm coming from no-chilling, so being done in 5 minutes after boil is a revelation. That also means I can't compare to counterflows or immersions, but I can still highly recommend this as effective.

Works great, would buy again
Got 5 gallons of wort from boiling to pitching temps in about 10 minutes. Much easier to deal with than a big copper or stainless immersion chiller. I used it with a liquid pump and just recirculated within the boil kettle until I was at pitching temp, then used the pump to drain into my fermenter. Careful though, the chiller itself gets HOT.

Wonderful wort chiller!
This works exactly like I had hoped it would! It took 5 gallons of wort from nearly boiling down to 75F in about 5 minutes. The price was more than competitive as well. Remember to flush this chiller out really well with PBW or some other kind of cleaner and water a few times before you ever use it. Especially remember to sanitize this by running StarSan or some other kind of sanitizer through it. And also remember to back-flush this with your garden hose adapted to the barbs when you're done to get all of your beer crud out of it before putting it away!

Great Brewing Upgrade
An excellent upgrade to my home brewing rig. Chills 15 gallons from boil to 70F in less than 15min. This is my 2nd Duda chiller and would recommend their products to anyone

Good FPHE For The Money
This really a great FPHE for the money. I have not seen anything cheaper and comparable on Amazon. I am not sure if you get a very good cross-flow heat exchange with this because it seems the inlets and outlets should be kitty-corner from eachother which they are not. Still good quality though and available with a variety of port sizes and types.

So far, so good.
Does an excellent job exchanging heat. Somewhat difficult to remove/attach nuts due to proximity of 3/4 NPT connections. Overall, very satisfied, but now we will see how long it lasts. The heat exchanger I am replacing lasted 31 years.

Eliminates the pain of cooling wort down
You have to do a bit of work adjusting both liquid flow rates in the beginning in order to get the right final temperature, but once you get it right you don't have to fuss with it. I use my old copper wort chiller in an ice bath to make the hose water nice and cold. If you also put your fermentor into ice water, you can get the final temperature close to pitching for lagers quickly too. It can clog (or be a challenge to clean), so I installed a mesh tube on the inside of the brew kettle spigot to eliminate most of the trub issue and I let the hot break settle out for a bit before I start the draining. I dreaded cooling down wort until we got these chiller plates.

I used to be scared as hell trying to cool down a wort for 45 min
Chilling a 8g wort to 72 deg. F in about 4 minutes is a win, win situation. It can be a bit fussy to clean, but well worth the time and effort. I used to be scared as hell trying to cool down a wort for 45 min. This is the answer to my prayers. I will never drop and immersion chiller in my wort ever again. The ability to whirlpool with it offer something I don't think the manufacturer ever thought of. Cheers for this wonderful piece of kit. Cheers Duda Diesel!
