Bit big for edc but great for bush craft
The media could not be loaded. The knife is very good I mean is amazing The only issue I have with the knife is is big big for an EDC carry and also bit heavy but that is partly my fault too cuz I didn't read the description carefully but is a very good knife and one that will be in my collection forever 5 out of 5

Favorite Model of Kershaw-Emerson Knife Series
I really like the 9k model. It's all black and has a good weight to it. I also like how the wave part of the blade goes into the handle when the knife is fully open.I've been blessed to be able to purchase 4 of the Kershaw-Emerson models when they were on sale. And the CQC-9K will be the model I carry the most because of all the features.I have no doubt it will last a very long time. I'm still amazed that a knife this good was under $50.I like this model so much I bought a couple of extra ones to give to special friends who are a blessing in my life.

It's great to have a good pocket knife again
A few months ago I was at an event with my kids when I realized I had the knife in my pocket, the car was a long walk, kids already complaining about the walk and was forced to throw the knife away. I don't need a knife everyday, but when I do it always sucks to remember that situation. It's good to have this rope cutting, box opening, miscellaneous tool for the job back in pocket.Feels solid and well made. The opening mechanism is tighter than the CQC-8 this is replacing, but I've thought it over and decided that's fine for me. I don't ever need the knife immediately open out of my pocket, and any situations that I can imagine needing it at hand immediately are actually already way out of control. This is just a tool, not a self defense solution. I don't mind it taking two hands to start opening, ok well I kind of mind a little, but I prefer using two hands to open it versus it ever opening on its own in my pocket. It's reasonably sharp out of the box and seems completely good to go, I have no doubt that it would make quick work of a jammed seatbelt, which is the only emergency situation I can come up with for needing it.So it's more than enough for any expected uses. I thought a long time about if I wanted it (yes), needed it (sometimes), or might be in situations where it would be useful (again, yes.) Clearly I would buy it again, although I'm hoping that I remember to leave it in the glovebox whenever the current situation allows attending public performances again.

Great knife. Emerson wave feature works like a charm. Stupid graphics on it.
I like this knife very much. It came out of the box nice and sharp. Perhaps not "razor" sharp, but with a good working edge. I intend to use it for EDC, opening boxes, letters, etc. So, plenty sharp for my intended uses. It's a nice, uniform black color. One side (the left side) the handle is a black "G10" type of surface that's nice and grippy. The right side (the side that the pocket clip is initially on) is bare, black metal. I was initially concerned that it would be slippery on that side because I am right handed, but after holding it in hand a few times, I'm not so worried about it anymore. I don't do any work or hobbies where my hand is often wet, so I don't suppose it will be an issue. It has a comfortable, ergonomic shape to it. There is a finger choil on the bottom of the handle to prevent the hand sliding up onto the blade and has some mild gimping for the thumb on the top of the knife. I've seen deeper choils and more aggressive gimping before, but this will do for an EDC knife like this.I bought this knife primarily for the Emerson "wave" opening feature and I love how they implemented this on this particular knife design. It's a little hook on the back of the blade that is designed to catch the edge of your pocket when opened properly. When you catch that wave on your pocket, it causes the blade to rapidly deploy one-handed. It takes a little bit of practice, but once you get the knack of it, this blade deploys faster than any switchblade. It's extremely handy from a practical and a self-defense standpoint. Also, once the blade is deployed, the Emerson wave notch is hidden within the handle. This is a nice little detail that I appreciate from a perfectly aesthetic perspective as I think the notch in the back of the blade is a bit of an eyesore. The pocket clip on the knife is placed on the right hand side for tip-up carry in the right hip pocket out of the box. This is the intended carry position for a right-handed person. It does, however, have mounting holes so that you could switch the clip to the left side for tip-up left handed carry. Another thing that I like very much about this design is that all of the screws on this knife are either Phillip's head or flat head. It's nice to have a knife that you can disassemble fully with easily available tools. It's not something that you see too often nowadays.Clearly from the pictures, it is a liner lock knife. The lockup is tight and it feels secure. The blade has a good curve to it and a well exposed belly. The circular thumbstud is well placed. It assists with opening the knife and it is removable if you wanted to for some reason.I'd have given this knife 5 stars except for two minor gripes:1) It has a goofy skull graphic printed on the clip and on the blade. Why? God forbid I ever have to use this knife for self-defense. But if I do, and I end up going to court about it, the first thing that will be said by an opposing attorney will be "Why does the knife have a skull graphic? Were you looking for trouble? Did you want to hurt people with this?" In my opinion, macho graphics like this are just asking for trouble should litigation ever occur. The knife would be much better without the silly graphic.2) The opening action is a bit stiff out of the box. After unboxing, I did two things to make it open more smoothly. I used a flathead screwdriver to loosen the pivot bolt a bit and I applied some 3 in 1 oil to the action. Now it opens fairly easily and is quick to deploy out of the pocket. To summarize:Pro's1. Emerson Wave Feature2. Nice grip.3. All screws are flathead or Phillips.4. Effective thumbstud.5. Right or left handed.6. Nice belly of the blade.Con's1. Ridiculous graphic.2. Does not open smoothly out of the box.

Knife
These kershaw are some of my favorite knives for edc! Price is great if you don't want to spend money on a genuine emerson

Well made and solid
Definitely a well made knife. It is slightly larger than a regular pocket clip knife (compared to what I have carried), but a great knife made with good metal. The blade came sharp and maintains a good edge.

Light weight, it does work as designed
Must "twist" it in pocket to ensure back clip catches picket everything to open it consistently. It does work.

Ok knife for the price
This is by no means a bad knife, but as far as the Emerson-Kershaw collaboration series goes, it is poorly constructed. The design and handle feel of the knife is excellent, but the build quality is lacking. The detent is much too strong, making the thumbstud almost useless. The upside is that the Emerson opener works just fine. The lockup on mine was at about 70% and sloppy. There is blade play in all directions and the blade rattles when shaken. Came razor sharp out of the box though. I would suggest moving past this knife and getting the Cqc 11k, or 4K XL which is a fantastic knife with much better tolerances.Pros:Price, Handle feels great, Emerson Wave, sharpnessCons:Sub par construction, steel is lacking (for the price it’s expected), blade lock is horribleOverall not a bad knife, but the other CQCs I have handled are much better.
