Playable and Strong
Yamaha C-40 classical guitar has been my recommendation for entry-level students for decades. The setup is created for playing finger-style guitar music. Intonation is accurate for the entire fingerboard. The sturdy construction withstands the bumps and dents of young players. Quality is reliable.

I am a beginner when it comes to guitars, although I own a few of them. Considering the price point this is a great guitar. I replaced the strings and it certainly sounds well enough for me to enjoying playing it. Very easy to play, as it has good low action. The action is low enough for me that even as a beginner I am learning to play barred chords fairly quickly with no muting or buzzing. Guitar was shipped in a flimsy card board box, but much to my relief (and surprise) it did not sustain any physical damage. Guitar has great sustain, strings will ring for a long time. Only downside is lack of truss rod adjustment. Overall, this is a good purchase and I do recommend buying this guitar.

Best beginner guitar to learn on
You get great quality with all Yamaha guitars. They have great sound and are well made. The intro guitar is no different. Very high quality. As you progress, you'll outgrow it as the threads are beginner far apart. But it's a great first guitar.

Everyone seems to get good instrumen I got horrible sample
It seems to me everyone got exceptional instrument except me. I don't understand what's so great about this guitar. Action is just horrible. I mean, look at 12 fret its 10 millimeters. I don't know much about classical but it is not what I would call great playability. Of course, you can play on this guitar, I do. But it's hard. I suppose, one shouldn't expect much from $100 dollars instrument. But I repeat, it's not great. Now about bass strings. They sound bassy, as I suppose, they must. But the thing is their bassines overpower trebles. Trebles sound unproportionally weak. And yes, yes. I did changed strings on a good ones (D-Adario normal tension something) upon getting this guitar from Amazon I should say though that guitar starts to sound much better now than it was when I just got it. But action on this instrument still kills my fingers. I do finger pushups in order to develop muscle on my phalanges, in order, to play on this guitar somehow. Of course, I could ask professional to fix bridge nut, but why would I do it for such cheap guitar. My verdict-unless you want to develop your fingers, in order, to pull out nail with your bare hands, go for it. I will send it back, and buy myself inexpensive Spanish brand.

Perfect hybrid! And it’s made of wood! Love the sound
Love this guitar for the sound. Just the right balance of warmth and clarity. Was surprised to find that both sides are made of wood and not plywood in this price range. Another important reason that I picked this guitar was that it’s a “hybrid” it’s not really advertised as such, I kind of had to research about this till I found a video on YT from one of Yamaha’s presentations. There are basically 2 types of categories for nylon stringed guitars - Classical and Flamenco. I like the playability of Flamenco but the warmer tones of Classical. I play everything on this guitar because the string action is low (strings are close to the neck like on acoustic/electric guitars). Typical classical guitar action is too high for my style of playing and is generally more difficult to play (also their neck is thicker). I pretty much narrowed it down to two brands in similar configuration but the tone of Yamaha was more rich to my ears.

A really nice guitar!
This really is a great guitar. It has a solid spruce top. The plywood side and back really don't diminish the overall sound that much. I can't believe one can buy a guitar this good for the price. I can only speak for the guitar I received but fit and finish are excellent, the intonation was right on, the action was very good, no major problems with buzzes and rattles, and the tone resonant and pleasing. Switching the strings to Dadarrios new carbon strings really brought this thing alive. The neck width which is wider than an electric or steel string acoustic is standard for this type of guitar but would probably require normal adult hand width, I.e., not a child's hand. Yamaha also makes a 3/4 size and 1/2 size for younger people. I played the 3/4 size and it is just as nice. This is a real guitar, not a toy, or a beginner sounding compromise. In my opinion this sounds and plays just as good or better as any $500 classical guitar I have played. It is made in Indonesia, not Japan but Yamaha really must exert some great attention to quality control. I am very pleased with my purchase.
